Are you having trouble sleeping?

Sleep problems may be caused by how you’re feeling emotionally, or as part of the side effects for cancer treatment. If you find it hard to have a good sleep, you’re not alone. The Online Community is here to support you 24/7.

“Getting a cancer diagnosis is extremely stressful, and that brings a whole load of emotions, and lack of sleep certainly does not help. I think many of us have periods of insomnia. I experienced a long period of not sleeping. I could go off to sleep quite quickly, but after an hour I would find myself wide awake again, and would spend the rest of the night getting frustrated because I couldn't sleep."

  • I totally get that, a friend of mine said time isn't like we think it is and for some reason that l haven't seen an explanation for yet time seems to be different when these things happen. Sometimes a week seems to last longer than usual and with this cancer treatment time seems like a long time has gone by when it hasn't.  With my hubby the chemo seemed to go on a long time sometimes. I think its the emotional and physical response....

I had an uncle who was in a TB hospital for years. I wonder how he must have felt sometimes....

Yes and thats something we have been discussing here how support seems to vary according to post code basically. Sorry to know you haven't been having the right support. At least on here there are folk to talk to and l reacon between us all someone will have some thing useful to say.

    What is ICS ?

Yes I always spend the day after the clocks change saying but what time would it really have been ?!

    Sending hugs x

  • That's a very funny description Gill made me laugh...

That's amazing you went there Gill,  certainly will tell you that would be lovely and fish and chips will be searched out...xxxx

Yes, I'm hoping things get better for my friends soon, they have haulted his chemo until full tests and they get to the bottom of if it has spread. He's a wonderful guy, helped so many people, always goes out of his way to listen to others.

Yes l do hope we help others, just thought this is like sending messages in bottles into the sea and folk find them....

That's one we haven't done if folk can't sleep the test is if you were on a desert island what's have you taken in your bag for the trip ?

Yes Pippin hope he's not been to bothered by the winds anyway.

On a mission to find some synthetic cream doughnuts when l can this week...

Thanks Gill hope you sleep sending love and hugs xx

  • Aww, thanks Gill. I appreciate that.

  • Well, best of luck with the phone call.

Yeah, it’s been really wild up here, and we have another weather warning coming in at 3am tomorrow for the whole day.
I wish it would do one, and I am being polite. JoyJoy.

  • Morning Dingly Dell Relaxed

We weren't very night owlish last night and all cleared off to bed before you arrived. Late apologies hon.

Been having a think about the desert island packing Thinking A chef with an unlimited supply of delicious fare. Stevie Wonder and piano for entertainment. A mobile with an everlasting battery. And OH, of course, but back to how he was. We can but dream my lovely.

Yup, me too about the clocks as I spent yesterday wittering on about what the real time would be and do that twice, every year as it's a given and probably very irritating for my unfortunate audience! Upside downUpside down

Good luck with the doughnut hunt and let us know if you snare your prey, Dingg. An alternative could be to buy your doughnuts of choice and a can of synthetic cream. Solutions part 1. Star2

You have the best day you can sweetheart, and sending love,  hugs and prayers for your friends xxx

ICS is the Irish Cancer Society.

Support on here has been a huge help for me. Heart (Except when I am logged out and have problems getting back in. Maybe I 'talk' too much. ️ )

There's nothing like this over here as far as I know. I mentioned it at my last chemo cycle but no interest. Tomorrow, the ICS helpline reopens (bank holiday today) so I will make sure they know about it. After all, we are given Macmillan handouts here.
