Are you having trouble sleeping?

Sleep problems may be caused by how you’re feeling emotionally, or as part of the side effects for cancer treatment. If you find it hard to have a good sleep, you’re not alone. The Online Community is here to support you 24/7.

“Getting a cancer diagnosis is extremely stressful, and that brings a whole load of emotions, and lack of sleep certainly does not help. I think many of us have periods of insomnia. I experienced a long period of not sleeping. I could go off to sleep quite quickly, but after an hour I would find myself wide awake again, and would spend the rest of the night getting frustrated because I couldn't sleep."

  • Hi Kez Hugging hope you're keeping well, my love.

Errr, the clearing out. It's unfortunate as I'm not conditioned to grab handfuls of stuff and just bung it in bin liners. I've been inspecting it instead, getting maudlin over almost everything and taking far too long to clear out a solitary drawer.

So I've stepped away for now and eaten some dinner. I might go back to it later if I can find my Worzel Gummidge ruthless head as that will speed things up! I've a gut-dropping feeling that head's at the back of the biggest and most crammed cupboard, so things will most likely grind to a halt today... and I've got into watching Tenable now. Drat!

Ooh Kez, I'm normally forgiving and accommodating of others' foibles but when it comes to MiL - NO!

Have a great day, sweetheart xxx HuggingTwo heartsWave

  • Lol. Yes, catheters do have some advantages regarding enhanced overnight duration. My bed is not a divan type. It is a conventional bedstead with a stout, firm pocket sprung mattress plonked on top. The wooden side rails are at an ideal height to hang the bag overnight which, for me, is the same bag as used all day so no connection or stand issues. Plastic undercovers are a godsend. Sometimes when my catheter blocks, my brain decides not to wake me up, instead relaxes internal muscles to such an extent that bypassing occurs. It has only happened twice in 8 years of catheter usage but my late wife's side of the bed is vacant, so no alarm system Grinning.

  • Thanks. Can I have an evening to revise before sitting my catheter exam? Joy

As long as complacency and fatigue aren't effecting your vigilance and willingness to access help.

    Cheers

  • I didn't realise rehabilitative kit was available on wards but it makes so much sense! Not just for maintaining and achieving physical health but for giving people agency, breaking the monotony.

Also building confidence in undertaking exertion having been dependent and fragile.

Yeah, as evidenced in   OH's case, holistic care is still a long way off. As budgets and time lines are crunched, care becomes of the urgent and vital kind rather than sensible and necessary.

    Cheers

  • Thinking ummm can I go for a hot tub, BBQ and pizza oven, reflecting pool, waterfall and sound bowls please?

    Cheers

  • get a feeling I shouldn't have mentioned the C word just yet, going by your coded response. I'll button it until you let us know when it's safe to come out and let the good times roll

  • Helen, Sky has 4 channels showing C movies Popcorn now. In fact they've been at it since late summer but if you don't subscribe then you're safe and Channel 5 will most likely start airing them early November.

You have been warned, so stock up on C munchies soon xxx

  • I must admit,  I watch Christmas movies all year long! There are better ones closer to Christmas but I love them! So predictable but comforting! Mrs clausSantaChristmas treexxx

  • Predictable? Never!

You mean like boy/girl hates Christmas, gets stuck in a very pro Christmas spot, Christmas isn't going to happen, boy/girl reluctantly gets involved, impresses local or returned home girl/boy whose family livelihood and village they save, boy/girl melts their frozen heart with seasonal hot chocolate, smooch smooch Kissing heart Two hearts

    The end.

No, not predictable at all Joy
