Are you having trouble sleeping?

Sleep problems may be caused by how you’re feeling emotionally, or as part of the side effects for cancer treatment. If you find it hard to have a good sleep, you’re not alone. The Online Community is here to support you 24/7.

“Getting a cancer diagnosis is extremely stressful, and that brings a whole load of emotions, and lack of sleep certainly does not help. I think many of us have periods of insomnia. I experienced a long period of not sleeping. I could go off to sleep quite quickly, but after an hour I would find myself wide awake again, and would spend the rest of the night getting frustrated because I couldn't sleep."

    Thank you so much.

Being neurodivergent I am typically exceptional at one thing and one thing only, and rubbish at everything else. I was an accountant for around 30 years, the 'wrong' job for me so came to my present occupation rather late in the day.

This job has introduced me to some amazing (and famous in their field) people, including a pioneering (and millionaire) retired heart surgeon who rang me when his book (which I edited) was published and invited me to dinner with his wife - in Milan! He even sent me the air fare. Absolutely a night to remember and I feel very humbled to have experienced this and other amazing meet-ups. Of course, there have been others who I subsequently blacklisted due to their difficult attitude and behaviour! Including a Dutch company - and I absolutely love the Dutch. Well, apart from this one!

(Sorry I am wittering on as usual, better go now and think of what to have for tea. No appetite, but I need to keep my strength up.)

  • You're certainly not wittering Gill, as I love hearing about others' lives and what they've done. It feeds my inquisitive nature (nosiness) and probably Shimmer's - I think we're chips off the same block in that respect.

Get yourself some food down if you can hon, as you do need to keep up your strength. I've just made OH a Marmite sandwich for his supper, at his request. Luckily we both love it!

    Resting time now xxx

  • Hope Dad's appointment went wel

It was a scan on his neck, it was only 5 minutes.

We got them back home then we went to Wetherspoons for lunch.

  • Had all my obs done and all ok. Just anxiety levels quite high as you can imagine.

Hi Julie. I can imagine why you are anxious. All the best for your treatment and I hope you don't end up climbing the walls. Do your best to relax and ask them to sort the WiFi.

In the end I found a pack of microwave mac 'n' cheese. Two minutes and it was done, and made more appealing with some grated strong cheddar.

I love Marmite too, but with my mouth being so sore at the moment it's sitting in the cupboard unused.

Now chilling in front of the TV.

I wasn't hungry so I had microwave mac 'n' cheese. Yours sounds much nicer! Thinking

  •   the crumpetcoal pic is EXACTLY the sort of thing he'd do. They are however, destined for a wash basket he has decided to use to make compost. Grrrr... It's on a chair by the backdoor (which is always left wide open) and his previous home had a definite small furry problem but he thinks feeding them outdoors means they won't come in!!!! EEEEJIT! Ahem.

Oooh  definitely needs those posters! Joy
