Are you having trouble sleeping?

Sleep problems may be caused by how you’re feeling emotionally, or as part of the side effects for cancer treatment. If you find it hard to have a good sleep, you’re not alone. The Online Community is here to support you 24/7.

“Getting a cancer diagnosis is extremely stressful, and that brings a whole load of emotions, and lack of sleep certainly does not help. I think many of us have periods of insomnia. I experienced a long period of not sleeping. I could go off to sleep quite quickly, but after an hour I would find myself wide awake again, and would spend the rest of the night getting frustrated because I couldn't sleep."

Thank you Brian, but I can't afford overseas calls. There is an equivalent in ROI which is free, so I will try them again tomorrow when they are open. They are limited in what they can do as it is mainly a helpline for questions about diagnoses and treatment. But they may be able to get the hospital to do what they promised nearly 6 weeks ago and produce someone from psychiatry to attend on Wednesday when I am there (for the last time).

A quick(ish) reply to start with - Daizy is the Dalmatian, Henry is a Porcelaine, an ancient French breed, recognised as a purebred in every country except the UK. Rolling eyes They are both Irish champions and Henry also has an International junior title. There are only three Porcelaines in Ireland,  a few in the UK even though the UK Kennel Club doesn't recognise them so they are registered with the Irish Kennel Club.

Thank you so much for your reply, it means a lot. I can't relax today until I finish my tax return which is complex over here, but I am on the final stages and then I will know if I have any savings left so I can buy some heating oil.

So sorry to hear that your OH is going through depression, he is lucky to have you around, even though he may not appreciate that at the moment. I hope he feels better very soon.

I hope to be back on later today feeling more positive.

Thank you, I'll take a look at that.

  • Hi again Gill Wave

Oh crikey. I've been having a right old time trying to reply to your posts.

Let's see if this one works...

  • Ok, that one did so I'll try and remember what I wrote earlier.

I opened the link about Porcelaine hounds and found it really interesting - puppy on the photo looked just like Henry Two hearts

Good luck with your tax return and I'll plough through my chores Sob

Keep that positivity brewing for when you get it done xxx
