Are you having trouble sleeping?
Sleep problems may be caused by how you’re feeling emotionally, or as part of the side effects for cancer treatment. If you find it hard to have a good sleep, you’re not alone. The Online Community is here to support you 24/7.
“Getting a cancer diagnosis is extremely stressful, and that brings a whole load of emotions, and lack of sleep certainly does not help. I think many of us have periods of insomnia. I experienced a long period of not sleeping. I could go off to sleep quite quickly, but after an hour I would find myself wide awake again, and would spend the rest of the night getting frustrated because I couldn't sleep."

As OH's treatment/care is mainly centred around his neck it's difficult for him without a mirror, as obviously our eyes can't see those parts. That's why I do all the lary tube changes etc. He can insert the tube by himself but it makes him gag and I don't.
Another difficulty for him is that he can no longer reach round his neck sufficiently since surgery caused damage to his accessory nerve. As his cough reflex is so explosive he needs to wear a collar to keep the tubes in situ, otherwise they fly out if not anchored and end up on the floor. He can't reach round to fasten the collar tapes. There are other ways to keep tubes in place but none have proved as efficient as collars.
His other disabilities arose from last year when he had a total body collapse and landed up in hospital. That resulted in his problems with walking, stretching and the need for a stick.
Crikey, there's other stuff but I'm probably boring you now so will stop here.
Are you asleep yet hon? xxx
Shimmer, it's a toss up between choc cake and cream or toast. Plus I'm bursting for the loo so I'm going to leave yourself and Jane for tonight and wish you both a nice sleep for when you settle down.
Night lovelies and sweet dreams xxx
Lol at your new design idea for OH's collar! I'll have to think of a new name - Growler?
