Are you having trouble sleeping?

Sleep problems may be caused by how you’re feeling emotionally, or as part of the side effects for cancer treatment. If you find it hard to have a good sleep, you’re not alone. The Online Community is here to support you 24/7.

“Getting a cancer diagnosis is extremely stressful, and that brings a whole load of emotions, and lack of sleep certainly does not help. I think many of us have periods of insomnia. I experienced a long period of not sleeping. I could go off to sleep quite quickly, but after an hour I would find myself wide awake again, and would spend the rest of the night getting frustrated because I couldn't sleep."

  • DOH! Your post has just suddenly appeared. I meant don't get the gist of the story first. Just watch Grin

    Good luck with chores.

Stressy needs to repair kitchen drawer front, didn't eat what he eventually cooked last night but is better humoured today.

Him and Crutch are at pub watching match that doesn't start till 8 but afterwards pub will fill with fans soon as match over so they will leave on the final whistle.

    Cheers

  • This is so hard ...I  understand your need to spend time with him, to speak with him and touch him ... 'preferring' to sleep can feel like you are being rejected but please try to see it as them being at ease and finding comfort.

My mother spent many weeks in hospital at what became the end of her life, we were at her bedside 24 hours a day. Physically not good for us but also watching someone change and deteriorate is an emotional mincer.

You want to do ... something ... I am sure you are already showing you care in so many ways. Is he alert and aware when awake?

    Take care

  • Evening shimmer hope your pain is under control. Nothing worse than toothache. Good luck with your treatment.xxx

  • Hi again Shims Relaxed️ and the hot kitchen date was a bit meh. I cheered up after watching a segment of the Proms as one of my faves The Moldeau by Smetana, was on. Notes

One of my childhood memories was the whiff of clove oil and groans, as both my dad and older bro were petrified of the dentist. Dad had some gold teeth put in deliberately during the North African campaign, WW2, probs as a way of gold smuggling. The implants had never seen gold as mam said the rot set in on his fine gnashers soon after they dropped out. I remember dad with a gob like a nuclear fallout zone and big bro has followed suit.

The odd thing is I've no recollection of dad being in pain for about the last third of his life and bro says he's got none, now in his very late 70s. Do you know if exposed nerves die off once they reach old age? I must look it up.

Hope Stressy and Crutch don't start any alcohol fuelled barnies in the pub Fingers crossedbut my guess is Stressy's a Rhinos fan for rugby. OH will laud him if the answer's a yes xxx

  • Evening Sonia Two hearts

How are you doing my lovely? All good I hope.

I agree about toothache hon, but in my experience ear pain is a real killer. Having dodgy hearing myself all adds to that.

  • Evening Gill. I agree with you ear pain is just as bad. I am not bad thanks for asking. I am starting radiotherapy a week on Monday. I am a bit scared. Hope you are okay sweetie. I have had to have a new aerial put in today for my t.v. it was getting worse. The picture was breaking up all the time.

  • Sonia, that's one of my fears if the TV aerial goes for a chop, as OH and no telly would be a disaster - it's one of the only things that keeps him going. I have been getting him out more and walking so that's good and we're doing ok hon, thanks for asking.

I was wondering when your RT would start but please don't be nervous lovey, as it's a very quick and painless process. It'll be the fatigue that may get you so loads of sleep and rest if it does. Remember to ask for a good cream to soothe your neck area right from the start, as that should prevent slight burns. I'm trying to remember what OH got from his team.

Keep warm and cosy sweetie as there's a nip in the air xxx

  • I've remembered the name of the cream - Flamigel RT. It was terrific stuff and I put generous amounts on OH's neck throughout and after his treatment. It really helped hon xxx

  • Thanks. I have been really lucky as it's intermittent although if it had kicked in in either of my appointments maybe it would have overruled the other stuff going on and allowed a proper exam etc

But hey ho ... I would still be waiting on most of my treatment so best it is intermittent.

    Cheers

  • Thank you so much Gill. The christie hospital have given me so cream. They said it would get sore. 280 pounds for a new aerial Gill.
