Are you having trouble sleeping?

Sleep problems may be caused by how you’re feeling emotionally, or as part of the side effects for cancer treatment. If you find it hard to have a good sleep, you’re not alone. The Online Community is here to support you 24/7.

“Getting a cancer diagnosis is extremely stressful, and that brings a whole load of emotions, and lack of sleep certainly does not help. I think many of us have periods of insomnia. I experienced a long period of not sleeping. I could go off to sleep quite quickly, but after an hour I would find myself wide awake again, and would spend the rest of the night getting frustrated because I couldn't sleep."

You don't have appointments at weekends Gill? I haven't for a while now but for months I'd regularly have them at weekends. Not out of choice, it's just when they were given. I think even more were at weekends than not actually. Mostly scans, but also several times sitting for hours with an IV in my arm.

Good morning by the way, Gill! Morning to everyone else, I hope you all have a nice weekend.

  • Good Morning BeefyMoo, I didn't even know until we started on this journey that there were weekend appointments, I always thought it was Monday- Friday unless an emergency. I know different now, all my chemo is planned for a Sunday. Fortunately for us these also fall on the Sunday's that my wife isn't working!

  • Morning Geoff.  No, we've never had a weekend appointment but I wondered if that could be because OH never had chemo. Dunno really?

Well I tried to leave a comment last night but don't think it worked as I'm rubbish with that stuff.  You are funny Geoff; the background music and your comments have me in fits. Love it!

Oh, the cereal was spot on, so you have a reprieve from the vile nosh dished up yesterday - I've stopped gipping now...

Have a great weekend my friend xxx

Morning Laddy. I mean Laddo. I always assumed they gave me weekend appointments because they're reserved for the weird patients! It seem it's not just me though....Unless you're also weird. Grin

Morning Gill. It does seem that weekend appointments are mostly for scans, chemo and similar IV stuff. I don't really mind them, as long as I can get transport.

I noticed you hadn't left a comment and I was crying all night long because of it. Not really, maybe only for a few hours. Seriously, I'm glad you noticed the music and my little comments! I try to be funny but am never sure if anyone notices or is even laughing, or if I come across as a simpleton. This morning I'm tweaking the latest video as I found lots of issues with it, but I plan to publish it today.

Oh, how could I forget - Here are your frosted Shreddies with milk and a hot cuppa.

  • Thank you kind sir - delicious! (Slurps)

Oh I notice the humour all right - subtle but pronounced. My very good friend Debs (we joined forces with a couple of others from H&N a while back) is also highly amusing. I don't think she realises it but the way she writes has me in stitches. It's good for the soul. Maybe we're all weird but all good.

    Sending hugs xxx

I'm honestly very pleased you get the humour! Due to what you've told me, I'm adding some more bits to the upcoming video that I hope you and others notice. It's taking me ages as after not video editing for a year or more I've kinda forgotten how to do lots of the special effects. Not that I had much clue before then!

You love your acronyms, don't you?! Teehee. I can usually work them out but I'm stumped on what H&N is. Did you mean H&M? The clothing store? Did you meet Debs there while shopping maybe?

    I've added another video.

I couldn't do the funny effects I wanted to do, but I'll work on that for next time.

  • Lol ... loving your humour as well Geoff but haven't located your videos yet ... not sure you're allowed but could you tell me how to access ?

H&N ... head and neck cancer forum. A few of us girlie's looking after our OH's just jelled and have been chatting over PM for a while now. We've also got our good friend Nige (honorary girl) whose going through a really tough time at the moment. We're gutted that PM has been taken down and desperate for it to come back up.

    Hugs from Wales xxx

    Hi Deb.  Slight smile

Thank you, glad you like my humour! I checked recently and I'm not allowed to post links to social media, which I guess is what Youtube might be classed as. If you search for "explore with Geoff" though on Youtube, you'll find my channel. Don't expect much though! Teehee.

Oh head and neck, thanks for that.

Yes I'm missing PM's too, it's been a while now.

Great that you're from Wales! I'm part Welsh, and I love it there. As a kid I was taken to Wales for holidays lots of times. It's been a long time since I've been though and I hope I'm able to go again some day. Snowdonia in particular is amazing, it's nothing like anywhere in England. I've been on some steam trains there, down slate mines, and other cool stuff. I miss it.
