Are you having trouble sleeping?

Sleep problems may be caused by how you’re feeling emotionally, or as part of the side effects for cancer treatment. If you find it hard to have a good sleep, you’re not alone. The Online Community is here to support you 24/7.

“Getting a cancer diagnosis is extremely stressful, and that brings a whole load of emotions, and lack of sleep certainly does not help. I think many of us have periods of insomnia. I experienced a long period of not sleeping. I could go off to sleep quite quickly, but after an hour I would find myself wide awake again, and would spend the rest of the night getting frustrated because I couldn't sleep."

  • Hi Kate,I understand that.My current garden is nearly 200 ft long and I don’t have the stamina since surgery.Nothing got done in it for about a year. The house with the wild garden is a much smaller size and there looked to be a well established garden underneath the brambles.and other foliage.Your garden sounds wonderful.I’ve been looking at so many houses online that have no gardens or just slabs and a shed.As long as I can look at some greenery I’ll be happy.I’m going to miss my tame robin and blackbird. The robin sometimes sits on my foot.Jane x middle section of my garden a few years ago.

  • Beautiful, but lots of work!  I'm sure you'll soon transform a smaller garden to make it welcoming to birds, nice to view from a window and a wonderful place to relax with a book and a cup of tea.  My son keeps my fairly large 'L' shaped garden tidy but recent attempts by me to sit outside and enjoy the tropical weather have been interrupted by ants crawling up my legs and occasional angry wasps trying to steal my bourbons. I'll have to experiment with garibaldi - as kids, we referred to garibaldi biscuits as 'dead fly biscuits.'  Maybe the wasps will have 2nd thoughts.  Ray x

  • Kate, your garden sounds like a perfect place to home some donkeys, don't you think?  Grin

  • Hi Geoff.  Sorry I went awol but I conked out in the chair for ages, then had to make the tea. So your cleaning will have to be put on hold and I'm motioning a pay rise for not doing any yet, so there.

I caught up on all the posts and saw a lovely garden through still glazed eyes - I think it was Jane's?  And then I saw Ray was back with tales of soggy biscuits. I don't like gravy and how it sogs up Yorkshire puddings, so never touch it. Does anyone else have an aversion to gravy?

Think I'd better make a cuppa cos I don't know what I'm talking about. I need to come round properly.

    Laters folks xxx

  • Does anyone else have an aversion to gravy?

Nooooo, gravy is a must have.

    H

  • Absolutely. Especially chicken gravy that's done thick.

  • Even as a toddler I wouldn't have it Helen. I don't even like the taste, but here's where I get lucky - OH doesn't like it either.  Result!

Talking of luck, mine just took a nosedive. Still groggy, I made a cuppa and then went to the loo. I put some bleach down, returned to the cup and took the enamel off my teeth as it had stewed to the colour of tar. Then I noticed a strange orange mark on my almost new black pants - giving it a pointless rub, I realised the bleach had splashed so that's that. My forever stain. I'll have to try and colour it in with a black felt tip every time I wear them now, as the stain's at knee level.

Bally hell!  That's what sleep does for me - absolutely nothing.

Hope you guys' are all ok xxx

  • Hi Steve,  thank you my friend, though I've never heard of the donkey sanctuary,I do know how awfully they are treated around the world, it's so sad, but it's lovely to here some of them have found a safe place.

Wow Austria looks amazing, a little too lumpy for me,t hough you seem to be managing really well, and great to hear your both having a fab time.

  • Oh dear, not a good evening.

    H

  • Well, small fry in the great scheme of things. I just get clumsy when I feel out of whack, but I've come round now. Hey, isn't it starting to drop dark early now, and this morning it was still gloomy before six. Those longer days didn't last two minutes. When you go off, you'll probably have to pull over earlier for the evenings.  Still, it should be nice and cosy in the motorhome. Have you got some kind of heat source inside? xxx
