Are you having trouble sleeping?

Sleep problems may be caused by how you’re feeling emotionally, or as part of the side effects for cancer treatment. If you find it hard to have a good sleep, you’re not alone. The Online Community is here to support you 24/7.

“Getting a cancer diagnosis is extremely stressful, and that brings a whole load of emotions, and lack of sleep certainly does not help. I think many of us have periods of insomnia. I experienced a long period of not sleeping. I could go off to sleep quite quickly, but after an hour I would find myself wide awake again, and would spend the rest of the night getting frustrated because I couldn't sleep."

  • Lions down Donny way?  Crikey.  We only get hyenas and the odd giraffe round here...

Get some sleep, young man xxx

  • Hi Danniwales and a warm welcome from me to this great Group. I have just read your profile and there are not too many of us, I think, who have had to use a VAC to try to heal an open wound. Someone from the Company who made the VAC came to my house to give the District Nurses a lesson in what to do! I had to keep them right as I had had it while in hospital so knew the routine! They used to give me Morphine Lollipops! I had never before heard of them!

Please ask your GP, Cancer Team or your Oncologist to refer you for some Counselling. I didn’t want to go and waited too long, I should have gone much sooner. Even us positive thinking people need help! Hope to chat again!

  • Hi Gill, I think Eddie was spot on when he said it is harder being a carer than the patient. I have been the patient for a long time now but for the last 3 years I have become the carer for my husband when he was dx with cancer.

I have found it much more stressful being a carer then the one being cared for. You are doing a grand job of looking after your guy! Well done you!

  • Sometimes they bark at the tigers and polar bears too, it depends on which way the wind is blowing, they wouldn't be so cocky if one escaped their enclosure.

Awww Gilly I think you've been celebrating Leeds win a little too much if your seeing giraffe and hyenas in Leeds, unless you too have a wildlife park on your doorstep as wellWorriedWorried.

Hopefully a good night's sleep clears your head my friend, RoflJoy.

  • Hi Eddie and Gill, I'm in Austria at the moment, no reception really.

Glad Leeds won, not so Sunderland.  We should have beaten Villa.  We might get the situation sorted, personally I would fine Isak millions, don't want him anymore!!  Greedy B*******

I have to contend with sights like this everyday.  Oh well...if I must!

    Hope everyone is well.

  • Thank you Annette, for your kind words.  Looking after hubby has become my life's work, and if he's happy, so am I.  Luckily for the pair of us he's getting happier every day - boosted by Leeds winning last night!  Lots of love to you and Vince xxx

  • Hahaha!  The only 'wildlife' round here is right next door, but I won't go into that yet!  No, our euphoria wasn't caused by the DTs as neither of us drink, so any pink elephants on parade were purely a figment of my overactive imagination.  Hope the big cats in Bessacarr (sp) don't bite the doggies on their walks but I'm sure Poppy would see them off!

Love to you and Sheila xxx

  • Morning Steve.

Firstly, may I express how unutterably envious I am about your current location?  No, seriously, I'm made up for you, being in Austria.  I've got a big connection - my mam was Austrian and we spent a few glorious holidays there when I was a youngster.  We'd stay on my uncle's sprawling farm with all the animals, and have the best of times.  This was a few miles away from Graz.

Whereabouts are you Steve?  Those mountains look heavenly (takes myself off to a faraway time when I could look and see similar) and thanks for the superb photo!

Oh and thank you for your comments about Leeds too.  Your remark about Isak made me snigger - he's really muckied his ticket with the fans.

Keep on enjoying your holiday and if you haven't already done so, sink your choppers into Weiner schnitzel, very similar to parmo but without the cheese.

    Hugs to you xxx

  • Hi Steve, sadly greed overtook loyalty in football a long time ago, good riddance I would be saying.

Oooh lucky you and your LOH, it looks amazing, took far from the sea for me my friend, have fun.

    Eddie

  • Morning Gilly, the dogs, and ME, are safe, you can't even see the animalsSee no evil, and another "almost", non drinker here having drank enough in my younger days to last a lifetime, I've no idea what DTs are, and I envy you your overactive imagination my friend, aphantasia put a stop to that for me.

    love Eddie and Sheila xx
