Are you having trouble sleeping?
Sleep problems may be caused by how you’re feeling emotionally, or as part of the side effects for cancer treatment. If you find it hard to have a good sleep, you’re not alone. The Online Community is here to support you 24/7.
“Getting a cancer diagnosis is extremely stressful, and that brings a whole load of emotions, and lack of sleep certainly does not help. I think many of us have periods of insomnia. I experienced a long period of not sleeping. I could go off to sleep quite quickly, but after an hour I would find myself wide awake again, and would spend the rest of the night getting frustrated because I couldn't sleep."

I had a different cancer but did have radiotherapy and it was 5 days a week with weekends off, and that’s quite a common pattern for this kind of treatment. It is tiring going to hospital every day, but you can catch up on sleep at the weekends-I certainly needed to! Once you get your plan, you’ll settle into a routine with it.
I hope you’ve got some good family support around you.

Hi again. Well the very best of luck for when your treatment gets underway. Are you at uni or doing other things? I'm a bit nosey so don't think you have to reply. I thought you may be doing something involving art but I could be way off course.
Well it's been too hot and muggy for me today - temperatures don't usually get that high here in West Yorkshire and I'm more for the colder stuff. Winter is my favourite season!

Your toooo kind my friend, but I appreciate it. Enjoyment is what matters, I think you are more like Hattie Jacques matron character in the carry on films, a heart of gold, but someone not to be messed with. Well did half an hour do it for you?, I think the country has been dumbing down for years, and recently I've been joining them, lol, Helen does get around, she's amazing, as are you my friend. We've just been out with the dogs and it's lovely outside, so if the bedrooms to hot, I'll be sleeping on the swing seat.

Thank you, my friend, the top two were a group collaboration with my hospice friends.
It's lovely to meet you, and a very warm welcome to our friendly family from me, are you an arty person?.

Hi Sarah, It is good to see you post. I have not been able to log in, it has been off & on for weeks. When I did manage I noticed a PM but they are not working either and before if you got a notification about a post, you could read it in emails but not now. I’m so sorry I haven’t been able to read or reply!
I saw Eddies post talking about Gills OH and swelling, however I couldn’t go back any pages to see what it was all about. I have Lymphoedema after a groin dissection and the last couple of days, because of the heat, my whole leg and foot have been huge, it felt as if it was going to burst. I sat in a cool shower for over an hour before it started to ease a bit, so I feel sorry for anyone else who has this. I also have what looks like blisters all the way up my leg, YUK!
I read about Helen putting a photo of something she’d done but don’t know what it was! I also read about Jane struggling but can’t look to see why. This is so frustrating! Does anyone know when things here will be put right? I didn’t sleep at all last night because of the heat but couldn’t get logged in, fingers crossed things will get better soon!
Take care ALL. Xxx

Hi Annette. It's been a pain lately, not being able to PM. Debs and me have been so worried about one of our friends that we've started texting instead. It's not really ideal.
About the lymphoedema, yes hubby's nurse said the heat does affect swelling. Have you got a compression garment? They're supposed to help but hubby can't have one as it would have to be round his neck, over his stoma, so that's out. I'll give him extra massages - doubt he'll complain.
Take care xxx
Hi Gill, I’m sure he won’t complain at all! Yes I have a couple of different compression garments, trouble is my leg has been so swollen it won’t go on. Also I can only wear it for short periods at a time because it is over two very large and sensitive wound sites! It would be impossible to wear them over these blisters too. Hope your OH appreciates his massages!
