Are you having trouble sleeping?

Sleep problems may be caused by how you’re feeling emotionally, or as part of the side effects for cancer treatment. If you find it hard to have a good sleep, you’re not alone. The Online Community is here to support you 24/7.

“Getting a cancer diagnosis is extremely stressful, and that brings a whole load of emotions, and lack of sleep certainly does not help. I think many of us have periods of insomnia. I experienced a long period of not sleeping. I could go off to sleep quite quickly, but after an hour I would find myself wide awake again, and would spend the rest of the night getting frustrated because I couldn't sleep."

  • VAR has just been brought in wrong, with still too many human errors as a result of using it… I saw a good clip with vinny jones… in regards to using VAR with the offside rule that said… not a elbow a knee or a toe but there has to be a visual gap between bodies to be deemed offside and I liked that idea.. I hate the fact the ref has to go over to the monitor… they definitely could learn a lot from other sports such as  rugby and cricket..

Hope the appointment goes well and I hope you have the best meal out

  • I was determined I wasn’t having anymore cannulas in my poor veins lol… the nurses kept saying how strong and brave I am but to me they were the heroes not giving up and finding a way…

I wondered if any of you knew how I could nominate a team or individual for an award?

I have a ‘complaint’ I need to put together for when I finish treatment not to complain as such but more for future improvement so hopefully it prevents anyone else having the experience I have had.. but equally it has highlighted the amazing work I also feels needs recognition.

How are you doing Eddie? Thank you for the banana tip too x

  • got lymphoedema clinic in the morning but going for our dinner straight after

Good luck with the appointment and enjoy your dinner.

I was awake for over 2 hours during the early hours but managed to nod off again for a while. I've just had a cuppa and will have another soon.

The neuropathy in my toes is still bothering me, some times it's quite bad.  I'm 3 months past my last chemo.  Did anyone else have this side effect and if so how long did it last?

  • 5 attempts it’s taken in total but the picc line is in!

    Wow, well done you.

  • Hi Sarah, it's lovely to  see you posting again my friend, but I'm sorry to hear you  have PTSD, I have a couple of friends with the condition and have a little idea of how much it can take over your life at times, and so sorry your osteoarthritis is so bad, but it's wonderful you have appointments reasonably quickly and surgery to follow, the chance of being able to walk much easier afterwards, is what I would be focusing on, that would be wonderful for you my friend. Are you being treated at DRI, Annette asked me to tell you she received your PM, but is having issues getting on the forum, and would never ignore you, she's had some wonderful family news, but ill leave it for Annette to tell you. I have osteoarthritis and chronic osteoporosis, pelvis, sacrum, lower spine, and both shoulders my last DEXA showed over 40 microfractures, I'm trying, at present, to get treatment changed to one that might work lol, and I'm with you regarding warm  sunny weather, it's fab.

    love Eddie and Sheila xx

  • Hi there, my husband had neuropathy quite bad about 6 weeks post completion of treatment. He cut down his sugar intake as he read somewhere it can be caused not only by the treatment but also early onset diabetes. He slso bought some insoles for his shoes. Link below. His neuropathy iz much better now, he just has slight numbing of his toes.

  • Hi Eddie-yes, my appointment with the surgeon is at DRI. I haven’t been there since an appointment for something else last October but I suppose it’s too much to hope the parking is any better! I’m sorry to see you have a lot of similar issues-it has such a huge impact for me anyway on my quality of life, but here’s hoping this chap will sort me out! It could be a whole new world not being in a wheelchair!

You must tell Annette not to worry-I know there is a problem with the messaging system right now, but hopefully not too long before the team get it resolved. I’ll look forward to hearing her good news!

Everything seems much better when the sun is shining, but I can’t quite see it yet here!

    Sarah xx

  • Thinks Chloe xx

I'm in full agreement with your post - unfortunately they deem an eyelash offside if a player/team is out of favour.

Anyway, if you've got treatment today, I hope it won't be too gruelling but you've got guts and are doing brilliantly so far.

Love to you and yours and a cuddle for your little doggies xxx

  • So good to see you back Sarah xx

Anything they can do to improve your quality of life would be marvellous.  You deserve the best of everything!

    Sending big hugs xxx

  • Thanks Gill! I won’t get involved in football discussions as I know nothing about it and there’s enough shouting in our house already about VAR! Joy Worst thing ever apparently.

    Sarah xx
