Are you having trouble sleeping?

Sleep problems may be caused by how you’re feeling emotionally, or as part of the side effects for cancer treatment. If you find it hard to have a good sleep, you’re not alone. The Online Community is here to support you 24/7.

“Getting a cancer diagnosis is extremely stressful, and that brings a whole load of emotions, and lack of sleep certainly does not help. I think many of us have periods of insomnia. I experienced a long period of not sleeping. I could go off to sleep quite quickly, but after an hour I would find myself wide awake again, and would spend the rest of the night getting frustrated because I couldn't sleep."

  • Morning Annette and congratulations!  Lovely news about your niece and you must be looking forward to seeing the baby - and making a fuss of him!  You can tell us more at a later date, when you've met him.  Blimey, his mum must have some stamina!

I was wondering about a Champ knowing too, but I think they'd have found a way to put your mind at ease, knowing PMs are down?  Or maybe not.  Can't help with that med, but someone here might take it.

Well I slept for three hours and that was that.  The only thing I've got planned is shopping; if our local indoor market was open, I'd go now cos they sell the nicest bread, but it doesn't open till half eight.

Anyway, enjoy your day as you've got lots to look forward to.

    Love Gill xxx

  • Thanks Gill, That is good you at least got some sleep. I just can’t settle at all and there is only so many jigsaws you can do when you feel really tired. A busy week coming up too. Hospital tomorrow, my crochet class Wednesday, going a run out if the weather is good on Thursday, Friday visit my best friend who is in a Care Home (she has Lewy Body Dementia with Parkinson’s) Saturday family lunch out for my birthday! Never imagined I’d still be here!

    Hows your week looking?

    Love Annette x

  • Thanks so much Blush I know how hard it is being the loved one of someone going through this. So your kindness is really appreciated xx

  • Well I'm glad you're still here Annette, as will the rest of us be.  You don't half pack some activities in, I'll give you that, and can see where your niece gets her stamina from!

Apart from the usual things at home, we've got lymphoedema clinic on Tuesday, with dinner in the hospital restaurant straight after, Sky installation Thursday and exercise class on Friday... with dinner after again in the restaurant!  I don't need it, but I want to get the weight back on hubby.  If it's not too hot, I'll be going to see my eldest on Saturday, have a catch up and make a fuss of her kitties.

Now you have a lovely week and take good care of yourself.  Hugs and love xxx

  • Morning Trev.  Aw no worries and I hope you're in a better place today lad.

We all share a common bond here but strive not to let it get us down, and you'll come across some lovely folk.  I wish I'd found the community when my fella was first diagnosed as it would have helped me enormously in those initial dark days.

Annette suggested you write something about yourself on your profile; it's a good idea as folk would then know a little about you and it can be cathartic to get it down and maybe out of your system somewhat.  Another thing about reading others' profiles is that they help to let you know you're not alone with this vile disease.  It's certainly helped us and it's lovely to read many positive outcomes.

Anyway Trev, have as good a day as possible and remember, we're always here to give you support whenever you need it.

    Sending hugs xxx

  • Hi Annette

I have been cross stitching since my kids were little, they're now 38 & 36. Alan worked shifts so it gave me something to do when he was on lates or nights. I crochet too, I made some bunting for my granddaughter's room and I did most of it while in the chemo chair.

I do all kinds of CS, I'm currently doing an animal alphabet sampler for my grandson.

  • Hi there.  If you were wanting the Awake thread it's come through fine.  If you need further help, post again and someone will guide you to where you're looking to get to.

    Gill xx
