I'm sure this has been said before but I'm due to have my bone biopsy this Tuesday and then I have to wait for a diagnosis I think the wait is going to drive me mad sorry if this has been talked about before but I'm new here Slight smile

  • Hi Steve,

Welcome to the forum, although I’m really sorry about the circumstances.

I think you are right, the wait can sometimes be harder to cope with mentally. Uncertainty can often be harder than certainty.

What are you having the bone marrow biopsy for? I’ve had a few in the past so am happy to help answer any questions in that regard. The mindset I try and get into when waiting for results is that there is absolutely nothing I can do to influence the outcome - it is going to be what it is going to be. It doesn’t take away the nervousness and dread but it does help me to relax a little - to try to just let the feeling of control go and let it be what it is going to be.

    Wishing you all the best

    Greg

The biopsy is for determining whether I have bone marrow cancer as the antibodies are  saying to my consultant that this is what is happening due to the blood tests I have had so he wants to do these to confirm if this is correct he is a lovely guy that was extremely patient with me and explained everything well but its just the wait that is doing my head in.

    Kind regards Steve

  • Hi Steve,

Could you try distraction? Throw yourself into something that you really enjoy? Something active that will force you to take your mind off things? That often helps me when I am struggling to stop over-thinking things.

I am currently waiting for biopsy results and it’s so hard to not think about it all the time.
I work full time and am trying to keep busy and occupied other times of the day but find it hardest at night when I go to bed.
I hope you get your results soon.

Thanks I hope yours come through soon Slight smile

  • I feel for you, it's ghastly.

I'm going through the same sort of thing, waiting for my wife's results. The only thing I find helps is to keep working, if I lose myself in a technical software engineering problem the time passes less painfully.
