I have IDC grade 3, I have 36mm tumor in the breast and decided to do mastectomy without reconstruction, during the waiting time, I found something wrong in my armpit.  So I have done ultrasound again and immediately did biopsy, found out positive.  Therefore, for the surgery next week, it will do mastectomy and no need to do sentinel as planned but changed to do axillary lymph clearance.

Anyone had experience to share?

Thankxx.

  • I hope you do too. I’m sure they will start it quickly. You just need some time to recover from the operation. One step at a time. Have the surgery first and then I had a follow up with a surgeon after a week and then I think she booked me to see the oncologist a week after.

  • Hope I can get the same.  I was delayed operation since I was thinking reconstruction and they booked me appointment with Plastic Surgeon which had a late schedule and cancelled my original surgery date under breast surgeon.  Once I noted that late schedule with plastic surgeon, I immediately called my nurse but it has been spending few weeks back and forth.  Later, I got help from another specialist nurse and got the surgery date with breast surgeon to do mastectomy.

  • Reconstruction can always be done later once you’ve finished all your treatment. There’s options for you. For now temporary prosthesis aren’t bad. I have an appointment next week for a permanent one so will see how that goes. X

  • I already accepted and not care about reconstruction, just hope everything gone ad no spreading outPrayPrayPray

  • Have you had the results of your scans?

  • I have been told by the nurse MRI Marrow is clean.  CT scan ok but lung have slight issue but not cancerous.  Should be scan 3 months later. xx

  • Then try not to worry too much that it’s spread as so far there’s no signs it is. Otherwise it’ll drive you mad. I only had an MRI scan. Even if there is anything small outstanding chemo will kill it off. That’s how I’m thinking anyway x

  • Thank you RKD!  It is difficult to tell my friends or family of my feelings. Here is a good platform to let me release....thanks so much

  • I know. It’s hard to talk about your worries to others but it does help talking about it. Have you had any counselling?I think you can access a free number of counselling from macmillan

  • Yes, at this moment, I can chat with people with experiences, from here or from my own country.  I will seek counseling from macmillian if needed.  To be honest, I prefer chatting in writing instead of speaking because I am Chinese,  my speaking skills are not as well as writing. xx
