Hi everyone,
I am 42 and I am preparing for delayed DIEP flap reconstruction of one breast after a mastectomy (3 years ago), using tissue from my tummy. I would really appreciate hearing from anyone who has been through this.
How did you find the surgery, hospital stay and first few weeks at home? How was the discomfort in both your breast and tummy, and how long did it take to walk comfortably, sleep well and feel more like yourself?
I have two young children, so I’m also wondering how much help you needed at home and when you felt ready to return to work and everyday activities.
How do you feel about the results now, and is there anything you wish you had known beforehand?
Thank you for sharing your experiences, it would really help me feel more prepared.
