Hello everyone, well it looks like I'll be starting chemo next week; 8 session of EC-T. I've got my induction meeting on Saturday, what else would you want to do at the weekend!!

Questions:

What do I really need to know about chemo?

What advice/tips can you give me to get through?

Thanks x

  • Sorry I misunderstood.

Hope you get a date soon, as much I felt scared to start chemo, at least I felt I was being pro-active and something else was being done to help me get on with my life, if that makes sense.

Sorry you had to cancel your trip. We were suppose to be going to take the kids to Disneyland Paris, I hadn’t booked it when I found out about my BC in October as I was waiting till January to do it, however I just thought it was meant to be and now I’m thinking of going to Disneyworld instead, haven’t mentioned to the kids as obviously I’m still in treatment and not sure about insurance etc, but if it’s possible it’s definitely something I’m going to look into.

Let us know how you’re getting on.

    Gentle hugs Tina x

What lovely friends and definitely look to see if you can book something. Its Something positive to look forward to  and another milestone to hit and will keep your positive mindset going.

I got the go ahead to go away between finishing my chemo and starting my radiotherapy which I was really pleased about. Me and my girlfriends went to Fuertaventura for a week and even though I lookeLaughinga bit like a hedgehog with me hair, I didn’t care! It was just good to have some sun on my face and a change of scenery. It threw it down the whole week but even that didn’t bother me! Laughing Xx

    Hi Haysie ...

have you got a date yet? (Sorry... not sure how to tag your name in it?)

I did did have a cold cap which I’m pleased I persevered with (at the moment anyway!).... so treatment took a bit longer.. but everyone was so friendly and the nurse sat 2 of us first timers together so it was nice (if that’s the right wording) to talk to someone else going through it!

Yes I start on 8th April so I've got a week to wait. I'm glad in some ways to delay it but on the other hand I've got this bloody thing growing inside me so want to get going!

I really don't know what to do about the cold cap. My hair is fine and rubbish anyway but wonder if it would be easier on the kids if I can keep some hair?

  • Glad you got a date for start of chemo. We are all here for you.

For me it seemed like ages when I was told about having chemo but it has really gone quick for me.

I stopped with the cold cap on my 4th round of treatment and wear my wig now. My hair was really thick before but went to thin. I don’t regret trying it at all. It’s definitely worth trying.

I spoke to my girls 16 and 13, I asked them what they thought about me stopping the cold cap, they were ok but said they didn’t want to see my head if it was bald lol. So I wear my wig or a hat if I’m in the house which they are happy with.

Talk to them about it. I think it helped mine to feel included.

Good Luck, please keep in touch

    Hugs Tina x x
