Daughter in early 20s - Paget's disease of the breast?

My daughter has been referred urgently with suspected Paget's disease. She’s 24.

I’ve had a mammary adenocarcinoma positive for oestrogen and prostragen when I was 50 and currently take tamoxifen.

Has anybody of the community experienced Paget's disease so young? I’m hoping it’s just eczema.

  • Hello

My name is Steph, I’m part of the team who look after the Online Community here at Macmillan. May I wish you another warm welcome to the Community. Although I’m sure it’s a membership you did not want to have to join, I hope you will find the site to be a safe place of comfort and support.

I am sorry to hear that you have the worry of your daughter going through tests for cancer. I'm just popping in to help you find the right support from the Community.

I just wanted to check if the referral is to check for Paget's disease of the breastWe can change the title of your post if you need us to, this might help other members offer some support. Just let us know and we will do that for us.

I am not seeing anyone else in the 'breast cancer for under 50's talking about a diagnosis of Paget's disease. This might be because we don't currently have anyone with that experience at the moment. Macmillan's information about Paget's disease certainly suggests that it is much more common later in life.

If you'd like to speak to others diagnosed with Paget's disease at any age, you could also join and post in the main breast cancer forum.

If you have questions or want to talk anything through with someone at Macmillan, I’d encourage you to contact the Support Line for ongoing support.  Our Support Line teams are available 7 days a week, 8am-8pm on freephone 0808 808 00 00email or live webchat.

The NHS also have some information about Paget's disease of the nipple, including how it is diagnosed and treated.

Please do let us know if you have any questions or further help with anything.
