Hi all, so I have invasive ductal breast cancer, her2 positive. I have had my first chemo a week again and whilst I have felt good at times I have had lots of side effects! My filgrastim injections have caused lots of aches (wondering whether they would be better later in the day). I have had tummy upsets, heartburn, mouth ulcers, thrush in my mouth.
I am remaining positive but i am struggling since all side effects and also need to hear to some positive stories about the success of this treatment. I am scared that I have 6 rounds of chemo then 18 injections, then surgery and just want it all to work. I have been told it is stage 1 but grade 3 so grows faster which scares me!
Any positive tips or stories world help. I am usually a full time working mum of a 16 and 8 year old so it is a shock. Thank you Blush

I am not a member of this forum (sadly too old!) but I am one of the community champions on the various breast cancer forums, and didn’t want your post to go unanswered. You might like to ask the same question on our main Breast cancer forum as it’s a lot busier than this one. A lot of people will be on the same treatment. I had EC and paclitaxel chemo but not the additions for HER2
I also really disliked the filgrastim injections as they caused horrible bone pain. I found it helped to take them late afternoon - any later and I wouldn’t sleep. Ibuprofen seemed to help and I have seen people say the common antihistamine cetrizine helped them. Oncology gave me omeprazole to deal with acid reflux plus a lot of loperimide for diarrhoea. Generally I found it helped to stay well hydrated and to keep a symptom diary cycle by cycle.
