  • Hi and welcome to the online community

I'm very sorry to hear that your mum passed away earlier this year and that you're having a hard time dealing with this. I'm sorry as well that you're finding it difficult to access bereavement counselling in your area. Have you spoken to your GP about this?

Macmillan have a range of material that you might like to read while waiting for other members of this group to respond to you. Alternatively you could join in with existing posts to find out how other people cope.

    Hi Pete

Welcome to the online community and I'm sorry to find you here following the passing of your mum in April and send my condolences but would like to thank you for reaching out to us.

You might find a lot of comfort can be found by posting in this group as all of the members are or have been in the same position as yourself and although many are grieving their loss they find time to come on here for a chat and to support each and I know you will be made very welcome to join in or start your own discussion. No matter what's on your mind you can come on here and be assured that you will be listened to without any judgement.

Have you tried the following for counselling unfortunately as you've found out bereavement counselling places are at a premium in many areas but it is worth while to keep on trying or you can ask your GP if he/she can suggest some.

    Marie Curie

    Cruse

    Maggies Centre

Failing that if you are near a large hospital you may find that they have a Macmillans Information Service Centre,  these are usually found near the main entrance, and they have a lot of information on support available on the local area.

At any time you can come on here and have a chat or pour your heart out everyone understands how you feeling and will share experiences with you.

Hope this information will help and I will look out for you posting again, when you are ready, in the group.

    Ian

Thanks to  for highlighting this thread to me.

  • Hi again Pete. Can I just add to Ian's post as, unfortunately, the ask about bereavement support service on here is currently closed.
