My nanna came for my dad (this was how my mum let me know that my dad had gained his angel wings and halo) on the 14th of March 2019 aged just 63 years. We said see you soon to him on the 3rd of April 2019 and I asked him to look after my nanna (my late dad's late mum) for me and to give her a kiss and hug from me.
I am taking 100mg of sertraline for my depression, but it feels like they are not working.
I tried to tell my fiancé that my tablets aren't working anymore, but he just said that its not long since my nanna came for my dad, but I've been on 100mg since my dad was diagnosed with terminal lung cancer last October.
I find it difficult to talk to my fiancé about my dad as i feel like he doesn't really understand what I'm going through. I find it easier to talk to people on here who knows how it feels to lose a parent.
Both myself and my brother are finding it harder than our two sisters to come to terms with our nanna coming for our dad as we were both really close to our dad.
Hello , its hard loosing a parent at what ever age they are. My mum passed away at age 93 and it still hit me hard as we were close. I considered going onto tablets but my GP offered counselling, I unfortunately received my own cancer diagnosis before that counselling could be arranged so I used the counselling for a different purpose, and it was a quick sharp shock to think about me instead of missing my Mum. I'm sorry, I know that the last bit of information might not be helpful and might be unnecessarily scary, but I've put it in to just say please take care of yourself, and perhaps go back to the GP and talk to him if you feel the tablets aren't working, he may be able to suggest something else for you. My health is actually a lot better now even on cancer treatment than it was when I was grieving.
I hope you and your brothers and sisters can talk through good memories, and move forward when you are ready to. I know you came here hoping to talk to others who understand what you are going through and I hope you can perhaps get some replies from others or join in some of the other posts if that helps.
I wondered if you had also seen that there's an ask an expert section, Wendy the expert seems to give some great suggestions in ask about bereavement support it might help to look through some of the questions and answers and perhaps put in your own if/when your ready.
Best wishes
Take care KT
