I lost my wonderful mum to lung cancer on Sunday. She had suffered terribly in the last 3 weeks and myself and my sisters cared for her. Her funeral isn't until a week on Wednesday and I am really struggling with when I should go back to work? I work as a carer myself caring for elderly residents with dementia . how long did everyone else take off work?
Hello Kaymi, so sorry to welcome you here, I would not advocate trying to go back to work too soon, not when you care for people almost in the same situation your mum was in, if one of them was to pass away soon after you went back it might be helpful to you being so close to your mum passing away, see the boss and explain things about how you are, they should understand and allow you as much time as you need, also call the number on this page, speak to the people who know more about these things, good luck and so sorry agian, love and hugs to you and yours.
Whatever cancer throws your way, we’re right there with you.
We’re here to provide physical, financial and emotional support.
