So after four weeks I could finally pretty much get back to normal life again. I was very relieved to be able to call my boss Lee and our office manager and HR lady Jo, on a little conference call to tell them I could start back to work. It was decided as I was still signed off, that I should start back on Monday the 12th of November.
I work for a brilliant company called AT and C, we design and install corporate and residential AV systems, I love my job and I had missed both the work and the folks...
So after sleeping like a corpse for about 17 hours, I got up feeling very glad to not actually be one. After more raspberry ripple ice cream for breakfast (I should speak to Wallis about sponsering this blog as I ate so much of it ) I had a bath and cleaned the burn on my leg you see in the accompanying picture. (The burn is about six days old when that picture was taken) Amazingly it didn’t hurt, which was a very strange thing, as it looked horrendous.
I pretty much spent Tuesday sleeping;...
So when we left the action our hero was....
Sorry, just had my epilepsy meds and they honestly make me feel like I’ve had four pints of cider, so happily pissed suddenly being epileptic has its benefits it would seem.
So where were we? ah yes, so my wife and daughter stayed with me for a bit longer and then as visiting time was drawing to a close they went home.
They were both starving as they’d been either in A&E, or in the room I was in for about three and half hours by this stage and I could...
So I’ve told you all who Cyril is and why he’s an arsehole, I’ve also mentioned that he’s made me an epileptic, but not how this was diagnosed. Well strap in folks here is the story of the start of my epilepsy journey.
The first time I keeled, over was Sunday the 7th of October, I had just watched an uninspiring Japanese Formula One Grand Prix, where Hamilton had won (not a fan )
I went to answer the call of nature or sit on the throne (for any American folks I was taking a...
Welcome to my unusually titled blog, I had best explain before we go further I suppose. Two days ago I had a conversation with a lovely lady doctor/consultant called Sybil Stacpoole who informed me I have a growth in my brain that shouldn’t be there. This 23mm long interloper is causing me to have epilepsy (more on that subject in a future installment) which is what led me to my local hospitals Neurology department and my lovely caring consultant.
I’ve had two MRI Scans in pretty quick succession...
What a horrid day. I had a visit from my GP and I thought, Oh! that's nice and caring. No such thing. All she wanted was for me to sign my life away by agreeing to complete a DNR. I know it's for my own good but, up until her visit, I was having quite a good day, just for a change.
I sat and smiled, and when through all her questions showing no emotion...…….but as soon as she left, I broke down into a blubbering heap.
Now that chemo is over I am preparing for a partial gastrectomy on 28 January. Having had major surgery before I can’t say I am looking forward to it!
Physically I am feeling better now and trying to walk every day. My Fitbit is very motivating as I can see how far I am walking. I don’t go to the gym, having spent more money on gym memberships than I care to remember! I now walk 3 to 5 miles a day and build in some cardio!
I need to try to put on weight for the first time in my life....
The chemo seems to have passed fairly uneventfully and i was scheduled for an Ivor Lewis back in April 2018 which duly went ahead. Shortly afterwards however things started to go a bit wrong. Both surgical wounds became infected and dehisced with the one to my abdomen leaving a round hole the size of a dinner plate on my stomach and me enjoying an extended stay in the ICU for nearly three weeks as they fought to control the sepsis. After about three months I was able to go home and I returned to...
I really don’t know why I’m putting myself through all this crap.
In the beginning I was fighting to get my life back to some normality, get back to work and carry on as normal...
haha .... then I lost my job (incapability of doing my job),
Ok so maybe fate was sending me in a different direction ... these things happen for a reason. I still have my house, family and friends to live for....
Jeez now I really am laughing.. it’s true what they say about finding out who your true friends...
Just having a muse after hearing from a friend, that a mutual friend was asking after me and asking how things were going for me. So I thought I'd turn here to ponder and muse, and maybe make others think too.
Why do we as a society, ask people how other people are doing instead of asking the person themselves how they are?
I mean, think about it. In this day and age with all sorts of communication devices and apps and such, it is the easiest it has ever been to be in contact with people. Facebook...
