  • STOMA - HOW LONG BEFORE IT STOPS LEAKING

    I'll be getting my cystectomy soon. Many people have talked of leaks from the stoma. Can anyone with a stoma tell me their initial experiences? Thanks.

    It seems so sudden all at once. I think the shock has just hit me. I was thinking I'd have to have chemotherapy first. But no, straight to the operation. My pre-op is in five days. I suppose my op will be within a week of that. Serves me right for listening to other people, no matter how qualified, oncologist, radiologist, etc. who are not my doctors, particularly when my own research doesn't match with what they tell…

  • NO CHEMO IT'S STRAIGHT TO THE OPERATION

    Saw my consultants today. No chemo straight for the op. My pre-op is on Monday, 28th, just under a week. I'm nervous but my surgeon just happens to be a leader in this field so I'm glad to have him. I'm having the cystectomy with stoma and bag.

    As some of you know, added to the worry of my bladder cancer were a couple of strange looking moles on my partner's leg. I'm glad to say that he's seen the doctor who said that they are not cancer. He has to go back in a couple of weeks to make sure but she's pretty sure that it's not. Phew!  

    I have my two appointments tomorrow afternoon, first with the surgeon, second with the radiologist. I'm nervous…

    My new diet of more proteins, fats and vegetables with less carbohydrates and sugars is going really well. I feel a lot more energetic. Unfortunately I have the most enormous amount of wind. I'm thinking of storing it and using it to power my apartment.
