    There have been many days when I thought I'd never get to this stage but I am pleased to report that hopefully I have had my last tube feed.  I was weighed yesterday morning and at long last there was a gain.  Over the weeks they have gradually cut me down from 4 feeds to 1 a day, and now I am finally allowed to stop that last feed.  However I mustn't lose too much weight or tube feeding will be recommencing.  The…

    I've just got back from my first haircut in 8 months.  The last time I went there was the end of March to get my hair cut short in readiness for my neck dissection operation.  I remember that day well.  I've known the girls in the hairdressers for years and there were a few tears when I told them about my cancer.  I remember walking home apprehensively wondering what the future held and what my treatment was going…

  • Four months into my recovery

    Well here I am four months into my recovery.  It's certainly taking longer than I expected but I can see the progress.  I think I'm finally accepting that slow and steady is the best way, it's a bit like that story of the tortoise and the hare.

    I had a bad night's sleep which was rudely interrupted by the alarm at 6.30am this morning.  The dreaded day had arrived, camera swallowing day!  It didn't help that we were off to yet another hospital, number five in what is turning out to be a tour of all the NHS hospitals in the area.   We had a horrible journey.  The traffic was bad, we got lost and only just got there in time.
