Hi everyone
Im currently on the 2 week pathway for possible womb cancer. It’s been a whirlwind journey for sure!
Only had my TV ultrasound 3 weeks ago and have a hystoscopy booked under GA tomorrow. Had a failed biopsy attempt under local last week and thought I’d be waiting ages for a GA.
I’m terrified of the surgery tomorrow, as I have real anxiety over medical procedures after a previous bad experience with GA and surgery (in a completely unrelated area) and I’m also terrified of what they might find. I’m told my age is a good sign (46) but the fact I have PCOS and have never had children puts me at higher risk.
Heads all over the place today.
When I had my hysteroscopy under GA in 2021 I walked down to theatre at 10am and was awake again in recovery by 11am. I think the anaesthetic is only light for this. All the best for tomorrow.
I was just like you, worried and scared so decided to stay calm whilst walking with the nurse who guided me as well as assured me of the procedure. Once I reached the Thestre, the staff 15 of them talked through very politely and reassured me . All will be fine. Believe in uour inner voice..
Thank you that’s great to hear, went for my preop yesterday and was the nurse just made it sound so scary! (I completely get they have to tell you the risks but it just seemed over the top!)
Thanks again for the reassurance.
What did the ultrasound show? I have pcos, overweight, pension age. one vaginal birth and after they removed a very large polyp I was told 70% chance nothing further, 30% chance of either progesterone or hysterectomy. I'm waiting for the biopsy results.
Both my husband and I have had cancer investigations before only to find out that there was no serious problem. So I'm trying not to worry over the wait.
Had the hystoscopy yesterday along with multiple biopsies and a polyp removed. All went ok though was in a lot of pain when initially woke up. (And was promptly given oramorph!) All of the hospital staff were great and I was treated with kindness and dignity throughout.
The initial findings were that I have thickened patches rather then overall thickening so I am on still on the two week pathway and multiple biopsy’s were taken to test. Apparently the results will be back in 2-3 weeks.
I'm glad they got you pain relief promptly. Hope they also gave you something laxative and/ or you are getting plenty of liquid as constipation is a well known side effect and you dont want to be straining. 2-3 weeks is what I was told for biopsy results, the labs are busy.
Whatever cancer throws your way, we’re right there with you.
We’re here to provide physical, financial and emotional support.
