Has anyone had any counselling to help with their mental health. Also where did you go for it please. I really don’t want to go down the anti depressants route. I just need to offload and clear my head - to try and get away from the cancer occupying my mind every waking minute.
I have my first face to face session next week, it was offered to me by my CNS when I got my diagnosis and initially I declined but it was offered again on a follow up chat a few weeks after surgery and I decided to give it a go. It’s provided on the NHS at our local oncology hospital. Hope you get sorted out. xx
The Maggie’s centre at my hospital (UHS Southampton) offers walk in support (no appointment needed) or prearranged counselling. You could ask your CNS what’s available at your hospital. I didn’t use Maggie’s but I phoned my CNS 2-3 times a week sometimes for support and also used the Macmillan phone help line several times.
Whatever cancer throws your way, we’re right there with you.
We’re here to provide physical, financial and emotional support.
