After diagnosis of low grade endrometrial cancer last November, a Merina coil ws put in and that is the only treatment I am having. I had a biopsy but no MRI/CT scans as the oncologist said that it would be pointless because it wouldn't change the treatment option as I have a heart condition and a pacemaker. So they do not know what stage it is.
What I am asking is that I am still getting bleeding (mucus-like clots) periodically, they are quite heavy, but not enough to fill the 4 pads a day, that the nurse said was when to be worried or get back to her. Thing is, I cannot help but worry. Is this anything like normal? Does it mean the coil is working and getting rid of the bad stuff. Just feel the need for some back-up please.
Hi Redren
I am sorry to hear of your endometrial cancer and that you are having some bleeding whilst having the mirena coil.
I think the main thing is that your CNS is aware of what is happening. Bleeding is a common side effect of mirena and it may be that with time it may settle down. It sounds like it is doing its job and the womb lining is thinning. I have had a look at some previous posts on here and other ladies have had similar bleeding.
I wonder if it is worth giving the Support Line a call and talking to one of the nurses to get some reassurance.

I had the same procedure last October and had similar effects. It is normal to bleed intermittently for a time, some women more than others. In my case I bled on and off for over 3 months and these days, 6 months later just a tiny bit every month or so. It's generally the womb lining thinning out, which is a good thing. It also causes a bit of pain sometimes but pretty mild. I wouldn't worry unduly unless of course it gets heavy or really painful, as sometimes the coil can become misplaced - but that's unusual. You can always have an ultrasound to make sure it's in the right place.
