Hi all! New here and wanted to say hello and looking for support as I haven’t told anyone what’s been happening.
My background..
Age 53 with history of PCOS , had both ovaries removed , last one last September 2024. At that point my endometrium was thickened at 11mm but said all clear. Then a few weeks ago I started bleeding out of nowhere (18 months after last period November 2023 and menopausal) it was very heavy and lasted 6 days. Went to docs who referred me on cancer pathway. Three days later I had ct scan which confirmed still 11mm and no polyps or fibroids , referred for Hysteroscopy which I had a week ago now. They said 2/3 week wait for results but I’m so scared. I’ve got a history of PCOS which puts me at higher risk and my mother also passed away with ovarian cancer aged 58 which puts me at higher risk ! I can’t see any way this can be good news but don’t want to tell anyone and have everyone else worried!
It helps reading the forums though, definitely don’t feel as alone.
Hi Liverbird20
welcome to the group and sorry to hear your news.
We all remember what a horrid time it was dealing with what you are dealing with now. Whatever the outcome, it will be easier when you know what’s what what.
Please don’t feel you’re on your own, we are a pretty supportive bunch here!
Hi Liverbird 20
The waiting isn't easy is it. I would talk to someone about it though, maybe a friend who will keep it to themselves for now, it helps to get it off your chest.
Best of luck.
H
Thank you , will definitely consider it , it’s getting harder the longer it goes on!
Hi Liverbird 20
As one who has been there (post menopausal bleeding due to thickening of uterine wall and strong family history of hormone related cancers) I fully get how you’re feeling just now. My story’s a long one (see profile) and the ‘wait’ between different stages in the process seemed endless at the time.
I agree 100% with the others; it’s good to talk. I also found writing my thoughts and feelings down really helpful. My diary was a great, non judgemental ‘listener’ and still is. Remember, we’re all here for you too
Thank you. They said 2/3 weeks and it’s two weeks tmrw so hopefully it’ll be soon. I feel I’m at the end of my nerves now though. Think in my head i thought I would know by two weeks so I’ve kind of seen today/tmrw as the last days of not knowing. Feel like an eleastic band pulled at its absolute stretch and I’m ready to ping and break but it’ll be fine
Totally understand that.
Good you have reached out on here.
Hope you don't have to wait too long
You could always phone the gynae secretary and ask when you might be likely to hear, I did that after my hysteroscopy and she was very nice about it.
Whatever cancer throws your way, we’re right there with you.
We’re here to provide physical, financial and emotional support.
