Hi all…
I’m 45 and still having my periods. I suffer from really heavy periods, very painful and lose huge clots, they leave me in agony! I also have a bloated belly but not all the time and have a dragging belly ache feeling. Also a sharp pain that comes and goes in my right side. I have had no bleeding in between periods but my periods do last for roughly 11 days.
In late 2023 I was referred for an ultrasound scan which showed I had a small fibroid. It was left at that.
At the beginning of December I started having a pressure feeling in my abdo, like I needed to urinate. When I did it was small/average amounts… then as soon as I got up from the toilet I felt like I needed to go again. Then the pressure started feeling more like I needed to pass urine than a pressure feeling. I purchased some urine test strips and tested my urine, which showed ph and leucocytes. After about 5 weeks of these symptoms I thought I had better get it checked by my gp… I have a complex medical history.
my gp suspected a UTI… she started me on antibiotics and sent off a urine sample. She also sent me for an urgent ultrasound scan. At this scan it showed (reported) that the fibroid has shown a “considerable increase in size” since my last scan with increased vascularity, it’s also submucosal. It also showed that my uterus is enlarged with heterogeneous texture. It stated that sinister changes should be considered and sinister pathology should be considered.
I was then referred under the “2 week oncology pathway”
In the mean time my urine test come back… no UTI. I still have leucocytes and ph in my urine.
I had a hysteroscopy last Friday where he took a biopsy of my womb. He also requested that I have an mri to look more closely at the Fibroid.
my mri is this Saturday.
I just wanted to know if anyone else had had these symptoms.
thank you.
Hello Kelly1980x
Welcome to the Womb group. I am sorry to hear of your symptoms. You seem to have a lot going on and it is good that they have referred you on the urgent pathway so you should get some answers soon.
My only symptom before diagnosis was a heavy bleed. This led to me going to hospital. I was then referred for ultrasound. The ultrasound found something but they didn't know what it was. So I was then called in for a biopsy. At the biopsy I was told I needed a CT scan. This was done a few days later. About a week after the biopsy, I received my results via a phone call.
I didn't have any urinary symptoms or any bloating. I had been feeling a bit run down but had covid a couple of months before. A week before the bleed I had some back pain but put that down to lifting.
I hope you get some answers soon, but in the meantime we are here if you need us.
Jane
