Hello everyone! My name is Alice, 39 years old. I’m a nurse in England and was diagnosed with uterine cancer grade 3. I have done a failed hysterectomy in November 2024 where they got a biopsy which showed malignant. I was diagnosed on January 9 of this year. CT scan done on 17th January, MRI tomorrow, and a robotic hysterectomy on Feb 12. I’m a bit anxious not knowing the stage of my cancer and if it had spread already in my body. I have plain on my abdomen and started to feel bloated most of the time. Consultant said I will be doing radiotherapy most likely in the future. I have no children but my husband is supportive. Im just a bit worried. I pray that we all fight this disease and all recover well from this trial.

  • Hello Filipina N25

    Welcome to the womb group.

I am sorry to hear of your diagnosis of a grade 3 endometrial cancer. if you click on my name, my profile will come up, but I also had a grade 3 cancer. Mine was in 2022 and I am now 2 years post treatment and doing ok.

It is understandable to feel anxious about the stage of the cancer and I think it is something we all have felt at some point. For me the not knowing and waiting were some of the hardest things. Once I knew exactly what I was dealing with and had a treatment plan- things began to feel more in control. The treatment became something to focus on.

My only symptom was a bleed but like you- my surgery was arranged and carried out the following month.

With a grade 3 endometrial cancer there is usually some form of follow up treatment. I was stage 1b and had chemotherapy and then external beam radiotherapy. The type of follow up is normally confirmed when the post op pathology comes back. There are also some genetic markers/information in the post op results that can help them decide the most effective follow up.

Feeling worried is a normal reaction when facing the unknown and it is great that your husband is supportive. Sometimes it can help to talk things through with someone neutral and there is a Support Line that you are welcome to call if you feel it would help.

Hopefully your scan results will come back quickly and will give further clarification.

I will pop a link to the Macmillan booklet that I found helpful when I was diagnosed.

Hope this helps a bit and if there is anything you want to ask please do so.

I wish you well for your hysterectomy but in the meantime we are here if you need us.

  • Hello Alice! I’m Marina, 38 also from England. (Manchester but currently living in Southport).

Firstly, I’m glad they are getting everything in order for you and you’ve got the hysterectomy booked in. Getting it out will be so relieving for you.

May I ask what your symptoms were and did they do an ultrasound on you? I have thick lining so I’m at the beginning here and unsure of everything! I am bleeding heavily and randomly. My lining was 21mm days ago, and 3 months ago only 4mm so very different!

I also have a complex ovarian cyst but my CA125 marker was normal but my referral is urgent Eyes

    I’d appreciate any help!!

  • Hello Marina,

First of all I had pcos so my period was very irregular. I would have bleeding monthly but either very short or extended periods, no pain. I would have bleeding post-coital but just streaks, not heavy. I have always had back pain that is why I never thought about it as a symptom; until I read that pelvis pressure was one of the symptoms and I definitely feel it. Im heavy too at 100kg 172cm, thats why I thought it was my weight. Transvaginal ultrasound was done in November 2023 due to my bleeding and it took a year before I was seen by the obgyne who attempted a hysterectomy of the polyps in my uterus. Doctor said she failed to remove the polyps as she didnt have a good view and there were several of them, buf she took a biopsy instead. Come January 9, consultant said it was a positive cancer grade 3 thats why he gave me a robotic hysterectomy surgery on Feb12. Consultant said ct scan and mri will be done while waiting, which was done Jan 17 and 21,respectively. Now Im just waiting for the surgery in February to know that stage. Very anxious. Im praying it hasnt metastasized so it would be easier to manage. How are you Marina? Feel free to reach out to me. I know it feels depressing and sometimes we cant help but to self pitty (I do), please remember you are not alone and you can message me if you feel you want someone to talk to. We will fight and win this battle!

    1. Thank you so much Jane! This forum is very helpful and being able to speak to someone who had undergone the battle we are facing now and has survived is really helpful.. it does give me hope. You are right, I cant wait to hear about the treatment plan. I hope that whatever it is, it is not too late. We will keep fighting!!
