If it's not one thing, it's another.....

HI, new in this particular group, but not the forum as a whole.

Having been diagnosed with and had surgery to get rid of bowel cancer over the summer, I've now been told this afternoon that I have cancer in my uterus - the original CT scan to stage my bowel cancer showed a thickened uterus as an aside, and this was flagged up to be followed up after my bowel surgery. So I had an ultrasound and hysteroscopy a few weeks ago and the biopsies taken during the latter have come back showing cancer. My understanding is that this is not connected with the bowel cancer, although I'm currently also having my genetic history looked into as analysis of the bowel cancer tumour showed MSI-H, which indicates a possibility of Lynch syndrome, which I think indicates an increased risk of certain other types of cancer.

So I have an MRI-scan booked in for Sunday, and already had a CT scan booked for a few weeks time as a follow up to the bowel cancer (as the original also showed a couple fo spots on my lungs which I was told is not uncommon and probably old scar tissue but needs to be checked to ensure they haven't got bigger.

So round we go again on the cancer roller coaster .......

  • Hi Poohsticks

    Welcome to the Womb group.

I am sorry to hear of your previous bowel cancer and that you have had a diagnosis now of endometrial cancer.

There is a link sometimes with bowel cancer and womb cancer and I remember it being talked about during my diagnosis.

I will pop a link with some info about Lynch syndrome in case it helps. There have been a few ladies on here that I remember having similar genetic testing done.

I hope that your MRI goes ok on Sunday but in the meantime if there is anything that you want to ask please do so.

  • I've just had a call from one of the gynaecology cancer nurses who tells me that following the MRI scan the cancer doesn't appear to have spread and is graded 1B, so plan is for them to book me in for a hysterectomy.

  • That sounds positive. I was also 1b. I hope you do not have to wait too long for the surgery and can get it out of the way before Christmas.
