Hi just joined this morning, I've had a womb cancer diagnosis the last few weeks after 2 biopsys. Went for a CT scan last Thursday & now need a MRI Scan scheduled for 15th November. Have been advised I need a full hysterectomy has anyone else had both scans I was told initially I just need a CT scan & surgery they think they have caught it early. Just a bit confused.
Hi Marglo, like yourself I’ve just been diagnosed with womb cancer stage 1a grade 2 and I had to have a scan and an mri to as well as a chest x ray , think it’s all apart of checking things .
iv got my hospital appointment this week and will need a hysterectomy. Good luck with it all
Hi Marglo
Welcome to the Online Community and the Womb group.
I am sorry to hear of your diagnosis of womb cancer.
I only had a CT scan with contrast. I don't know why I didn't have an MRI- it may just be that they got everything they needed from the CT or perhaps its different policy at different hospitals. The main thing is that they are working out exactly where the cancer is and how best to successfully treat it.
It sounds promising that they feel they have caught it early and early stage womb cancer is very treatable. A hysterectomy is the normal next step for most ladies. Mine was done laparoscopically and I recovered quickly. I spent one night in hospital and had little pain.
I will pop a link here with some info that you might find helpful.

Hi
I had a MRI initially which gave me my provisional staging which was stage 1 ..
After my total hysterectomy they did biopsy etc where my actual staging, grading and type where discovered!
I was then sent for a CT scan to see if there was any spread .thankfully there wasn't.
CT planning scan was next before treatment.
Just complete 25 sessions of Radiotherapy
23 external
2 Brakythereapy.
I have 4 weeks recovery then onto my Chemotherapy treatment!
Stay positive ! take one day at time !
Best Wishes ..
