Hello, everyone.

I’m currently 2 weeks post OP (midline laparotomy) and currently recovering. I’m diagnosed with high grade EC but staging still not known. I had ovarian mets from my EC so I’m guessing I would at least be Stage 3.

Feeling quite low right now and scared, even though I know I should be focusing on getting better so I could start chemo/radio as healthy as possible.

I guess I want to reach out to anyone here who has similar diagnosis and not feel alone.

  • I think I’m going to be on a similar treatment path. Sorry to hear that you had an allergic reaction to your first CT.

May I ask what kind of OP you had? I’m scheduled to meet my team literally 4 weeks after my midline laparotomy and I still feel weak as a kitten 2 weeks after right now. I just can’t imagine starting chemo or radio so soon.

  • Hi Ange,

Thank you for sharing your story! I needed to hear success stories today and you have just given me one. Yes, I dread the chemo/radio side effects but if it’s going to let me live longer then I will have to soldier on.

How long after your surgery did you start your CT?

  • I had a full hysterectomy with bilateral salpingo. Had a general anesthetic and was opened from my abdomen down. I was in hospital for 3 days. It took me the full 6 weeks to feel near normal again.

  • Sounds like we had the same procedure. I was in hospital for a week after my surgery but 2 of those days were due to delays and stuff.

Did you have pains in your leg and lower back whilst recovering? Spotting? Sorry if I’m asking too many quesrions. I’m just really curious and also scared about the things I’m feeling right now.

  • It fine askaway. No i didn't have any spotting but I'm sure that's natural just after. I had pains in my legs and stomach for a while bit I think I was just doing to much. I have an oncologist nurse who I ring if I have any questions and she relays them back to my surgeon. You should of been given one when you got your diagnosis I think. They are very good, as are the ladies on here. I have found them very helpful.

  • Thank you. They haven’t given me a number to call at all. I tried the Gyn office today but apparently they’re closed. I’ll try tomorrow I suppose.

I was given a CNS during diagnosis but I was transferred to another hospital for the surgery. I did meet the CNS in the new hospital but she never saw me post OP. I guess it’s time to be more proactive and start chasing them.

The spotting is just giving me anxiety due to it being a symptom for recurrence I suppose.

  • Yes give them a ring tomorrow there will be someone there to talk to. Yes I can understand with the spotting I'm like that now with my bloating. Sure you will get the answers you need tomorrow x

  • Hi suggest you ring the ward that you were on to get some reassurance. I didn’t have any spotting but have read a few ladies on here that did and t don’t think it was anything to worry about so soon after the op.

  • Hi

I had my surgery on 14 November last year and had my first session of chemotherapy on 17 January, and after that had a session of chemotherapy every 3 weeks, and I had 4 sessions.  They thought they had removed all the cancer and the treatment I had was to prevent any recurrence.  It is very daunting starting each therapy, as are most things when they are unknown.   You don’t feel anything when you have chemotherapy and there are always nurses there to help you incase you have any reactions to the treatment.  I did lose my hair after the first session, which is quite scary, but I knew it would happen.  There is a cool cap you can use which helps keep your hair, I did not use this.  I ended up wearing a lot of hats, and even wore a small cap for bed to keep my head warm.  My hair has grown back now, it’s short but the main thing is it did come back.

Please ask anything else you want to know and I’ll try and help or I’m sure the other ladies on here will.

    Ange

  • Hi!

I managed to get a hold of them today and was reassured that it is normal. Apparently around this time, the vaginal cuff starts healing and they said that the spotting might continue well into the 4th week.

I asked the doctor about my leg/back pain but she said she had no clue and could be posture problem.
