This is my first time posting on any forum. I'm a little worried about my uterus and wondered if anyone could pass on their experience and knowledge of thick uterine linings and cancer. I am 33 years old and a mum of two little boys. I was diagnosed with breast cancer 10 months ago but do not take tamoxifen. 4 months ago I was given a transvaginal ultrasound to check my ovaries, which both appeared normal. However! The lining of my uterus measured 23mm!! This was on day 18 of my cycle. There was no sign of fibroids or polyps during the ultrasound and the thick lining was evenly spread all around my uterus. I was referred urgently to gynaecology but the consultant who vetted the referral downgraded me to a routine appointment. Finally my appointment is now next week and the worry has been driving me crazy. The breast clinic downgraded me from urgent to routine last year and then diagnosed breast cancer when I was eventually seen. I have been anaemic for 3 years, I've had extremely heavy periods for 18 months, I am utterly exhausted all the time (that could be due to having very young children?), I have light spotting between cycles and intercourse has been painful for years. I'm hoping biopsies will be taken next week at my appointment but the letter doesn't say. Any thoughts or opinions would be very much appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Daloni, good to hear that you are improving, albeit slowly. And nice to have a little break before radiotherapy begins I'm sure. Joy...love the idea of the balloon! Can you ladies remember how soon after your biopsies you were given the result? Obviously I've been told the standard 4 weeks, and from what I understand, if it's cancer I will likely be told sooner. It seems like it really is a case of no news is good news, but the waiting is already driving me mad and it's only been 4 days! I've tried to google these white shadows that were found but I haven't come across anything of note.

when i had my biopsy done  I was told it would be 2 weeks before I had the result and that was only because Christmas and new year got in the way, I had a letter about  3 or 4 days after Christmas asking me to go in for a review of results on jan 2nd and I was then told I had cancer they told me the next step was a hysterectomy but before that I had to have a ct scan and a post op check so it was about 3 weeks after being told I had cancer to the actual op and then 2 weeks after the op I went in for the results of what they had found during the op. the waiting is awful but you need to keep yourself occupied and try and take your mind off it the way I looked at it was this  if I have cancer there is nothing I can do and I am in good hands let the dr`s do the worrying for me and that's how I got through the waiting and I also did crochet which kept me busy and don't forget each hospital is different in waiting times etc and how your told the results

Thanks for your reply. Christmas time is an awful time to have went through this! My mastectomy results were over Christmas time and the waiting wasn't great. My two young children are keeping me busy thankfully but as you'll know, it always creeps back into the mind no matter what you're doing. Thanks.

it wasn't the best time I admit and I had visitors over Christmas and had to cook a Christmas dinner for 5 of us and I wasn't feeling 100% but my lovely son took over cooking the dinner, hubby peeled the veg and daughter set the table and son in law kept everyone topped up with drinks and daughter and hubby did all the washing up after so we all mucked in and helped, they have all been so supportive and I have always kept them all in the loop as to what was happening to me, hubby was my rock and still is, he still faffs around and wont let me do certain things bless him,and my results from the op were good the cancer hadn't spread and they got it all out I had to have 25 sessions or radiotherapy as an insurance to stop it coming back and also had 2 sessions of brachytherapy,, this all finished in may and I feel great now,

I had bank holidays in the way too! Mine were 3 weeks after biopsy. My cancer was only found after histology had been done after hysterectomy though. That took 4 weeks to get results from that & me phoning them prompted that. All hospitals vary & it depends on their work load. The waiting is the pits! :( I was working full time while waiting though so that helped take my mind off it & the forum of course. & yes, I love the idea of the balloons, can't remember who said that! Such lovely ladies always ready to lend support even though they're going through such hard times themselves! Bless them!! Hugsxxxxx
