I’m due a Hysterscopy by GA nex week

Had the pre op Assesment today and answered all the questions..

anyone else had this happen?

im freaking out. Not about the op itself. I just have a bad feeling about the GA.

  • The level of GA for a hysteroscopy is low - I walked down to theatre at 10am and was awake again in Recovery by 11am. Try not to worry, easier said than done I know, but it may well be just a minor clarification based on something from the assessment.

  • Hi Caroley

Sounds like they just want to confirm things. Maybe to talk through how long recovery will be and when you can go home and to make sure you have a lift home- things like that. Try not to worry too much.

When I had my surgery I had all the pre op assessments but still spoke with the anaesthetist on the day of surgery. It was routine chat and a bit of explanation about what would happen on the day.

Hope that it goes well next week.

  • Have you had a GA before? I'm always nervous before anything involving an anaesthetic. They may just be phoning you to clarify one of your answers.

  • Hi, yes I’ve had quite a few previous surgeries

  • I had the call from the anaesthetise this morning! Feeling much more relaxed about things now.  Especially as she said I could as for a spinal anaesthetic if I preferred.

  • Good luck for next week x

  • Hi Caroley, I just had the hysteroscopy on the 7th May under GA, Honestly it was absolutely fine, got home same day. I've had my scans and now awaiting the results and the big meeting to get my treatment plan, it's awful the waiting.

    Good luck next week
