I went through menopause years ago with the hot flushes etc and had been on HRT prior to my diagnosis and radical hysterectomy a year ago.
My treatment, radiotherapy/brachytherapy with Cisplatin followed by Carboplatin/Paclitaxel, finished in July and since then I’ve begun experiencing frequent hot flushes.
Are there any ladies of a similar age going through menopause again and if so have your doctors been able to help?
Hi EPI17
Have you mentioned it to your CNS?
I have not particularly noticed any menopausal symptoms since treatment but I do notice that I feel more extremes of temperatures since having chemo. I feel the heat more on exertion- so for instance if I am giving the house a good clean- I sweat more than I would have done before. I also seem to notice the cold more.
Jane
I managed to miss out completely on hot flushes, possibly because I was having a couple of tablespoons of ground flaxseed a day. (Part of a diet to cope with other health issues at the time). I just had a quick google, and it is a thing apparently - flaxseeds are known to reduce frequency and intensity.
No Jane. To be honest it never entered my head to contact her since I got the all clear. I was planning on talking to my GP after the new year and just wanted to check if others had the same experience.
It’s difficult though to work out if something is cancer related or not and who to contact.
