Womb cancer - new here

Hi everyone. Im Sharon and I'd like to introduce myself.  I've been lurking and reading all your messages on here since my diagnosis in March. I didn't feel confident to post until now but want to thank everyone - you don't know how much it helps just to read your stories.

I had surgery on Thursday for predicted 1a womb cancer. I just wanted to add some reassurance for anyone who has a high BMI. My BMI is high and I also have a colostomy and large hernia, and had loads of pre op surgery adhesions. My excellent surgeon managed to clear the adhesions and carry out the hysterectomy via robotic surgery. I'm leaving hospital today in minimal pain. Obviously awaiting histology but fingers and toes crossed.

I just wanted to join now and become part of this lovely community and hope my story helps others with additional surgical complications.xx

  • Hi Sharon, welcome to the group.

good to hear your surgery went smoothly, and wishing you all the best with your recovery

  • Thank you so much. You won't believe how helpful you've all been already. Every day I've been reading stories so uplifting or even heartbreaking but what wonderful warriors x

  • Hi Sharon, welcome to the group and well done for having had your op. I had my hysterectomy for predicted stage 1a in Jan 2022. I hope you’re sleeping okay and hopefully maybe also managing to have some short gentle walks in the daytime as it wil, help you recover.  Feel free to ask any questions!

  • Thank you so much

Yes I've been pottering. Only issue I seem to have is pain in bladder area, not sure if it expected pain after op or not. Don't think I have an infection as no symptoms. Did have a problem with a blocked catheter after surgery so maybe just from that and still healing.

    Happy Sunday everyone x

  • Hi Sharon,
I'm glad you're home after surgery. Sending best wishes for a speedy recovery and good news from histology.

I'm also new here. Diagnosed on 6 June, MRI and chest X-ray 9 June - and now waiting to hear the results and next steps.

  • Hi there. Thank you. I hope all goes ok for you and you get a speedy treatment plan x

  • Welcome to the group DHT240.

do you know when you expect to hear? If not, the results are usually run past you Multi Disciplinary Team (MDT) which will meet once a week, and you should know soon after that.

  • Hi DHT240. Welcome to the group, and I hope you hear back with your predicted grade and stage soon. I was very lucky and got mine 3 days later as the results just happened to be back in time for the MDT that Friday. Do you know on which day of the week your MDT meets?
