Had my hysterectomy yesterday . All went well . Felt nauseous in recovery and had some oxygen and catheter for urine . Back on ward by afternoon . Just had one tummy injection to prevent blood clots last night and back on my prescribed blood thinners today. Compression stockings removed before I left the ward !  Catheter taken out at 6 am this morning and it took a lot of jugs of water and 2 bladder scans before they were happy with my bladder function . Once that was out of way I was discharged home at about 4.30. In quite a lot of pain internally but just about managing with paracetamol , bleeding is fairly light . Tummy bloating has increased since I got home but taking peppermint tea and drinking plenty of water . Trying to have little walks to kitchen and back . Still to tackle stairs shortly which will be fun as well as finding a comfortable position in bed . Thank you to all the supportive replies in the past few weeks .

  • Well done, hope you have a good night, and recovery goes well

  • Hi Rethead

Glad you are back home and the surgery went well.

I found that lying in bed, on my back with a pillow under my knees felt comfortable for me.

I hope you have a restful night and feel more comfortable in the morning.

  • I wonder if one of those body pillows might help with your post op recovery Rethead?  They look so comfortable. I’m thinking about getting one myself for when I’ve had my op. Hope you feel lots better soon x

  • Hi I do wish I had bought one as those first few days it was impossible to get comfy in bed . 1 week in I have managed with spare pillows , I am a side sleeper and sleeping on my back aggravates lower back issues . Last night I managed to sleep til 6 am which was brilliant .
