Hi everyone, I am 7 weeks post total hysterectomy and all has healed well. However, last week the post-operative bleeding/spotting stopped but a new symptom appeared-the vulva is sore, irritated and feels like a burning sensation. At my six week check up the consultant didn’t think anything was visibly wrong but it had only been a few days at that time for this new symptom. I treated myself for thrush and it seemed to work, only to come back a few days later so not sure if this is due to dryness instead and maybe the antifungal cream just had a moisturising effect. I didn’t have this symptom in the first 6 weeks post surgery. Has anyone had anything similar - any solutions or adive would be welcomed.
Thanks
Hi Thara
That sounds sore. As you have been checked by your consultant and it is something new, I wonder if it would be worth seeing your practice nurse at your GP surgery. They would be able to take a look, possibly take some swabs and sort you out with some cream that should help. There are lots of different types of creams for dermatitis and moisturisers that are specifically for this area. They may also suggest one with a local anaesthetic. If that did not work then you can always go back to the consultant. Maybe worth asking also if a urine test could be done, just in case something is going on there that is making the area sore.
Hope it settles soon.
Jane
