It's 2 weeks tomorrow since I had my biopsy.

I just want the results, my anxiety is through the roof.

  • Hi, i know how u feel i am 4 weeks tomorrow.. good days and bad days. Have phoned hospital and they said we will send a letter out once we receive the results..

  • I keep thinking the longer it takes the better that is as no news is good news right!

Hope you get a good result x

  • Is this following a hysteroscopy? I am 10 days waiting for my biopsy result today and already booked in for a hysterectomy next Monday. My consultant said he marked it as urgent but I don't know what if any effect that has. I've been told surgery can only go ahead if it comes back clear. I am now worried my surgery will get postponed because we are waiting for a (potentially negative) result!

  • Hi NJH75

    The waiting is really hard.

Are you getting your results by phone or by letter? I opted to have mine by phone and I think that was quicker than by letter and it also meant I could talk to the person who gave me the results. Some people go in for an appointment and I was given that option too.

It wouldn't hurt to contact them and ask if there is any news yet. I know my post op results were delayed because they weren't back in time for the weekly MDT meeting. My biopsy results came through around a week after the biopsy was taken and I was phoned. My results were sent electronically to my GP on the day I was called so it may be worth contacting them if you are waiting for a letter.

Please don't worry that the length of time has any indication for the results- it is not whether they may be good or bad- its just how busy the hospital are and how long it takes to process them. Even at the same hospital it can vary- my biopsy results took around a week. The post op ones took around 3 1/2 weeks.

I hope you hear very soon.

  • Thank you, I want to know but at least while I'm waiting I can convince myself that the no news is good news theory is in play.

I will give it a couple more days.

I'm having a horrendous time with bleeding since they fitted the mirena on the same day as my biopsy, it's just a constant reminder that there is potentially something not right.

Patience has never been my strong point.

  • Hi yes I had hysteroscopy and mirena fitted on 11th Feb at same time as biopsy.

  • I had a hysteroscopy , polypectomy n biopsy on the 10th Feb. ( And a mirena fitted ) I haven't heard anything so rang today and was told a letter would be in the post this week. I thought I asked for a phone call so does this mean it's good news ? Hope you hear soon. .

  • My doctor called me in a week earlier than expected to give me my bad news.  If they are posting a letter, hopefully it is good news.

  • Don't worry too much about the bleeding since having the Mirena fitted. If you have thickened womb lining, the mirena/progesterone thins the lining, which is what bleeds out. It doesn't necessarily mean there is anything wrong. I have a mirena and bled out for a couple of months on and off and now, 4 months later there is hardly anything at all. I hope you get answers soon.

  • Day 12 of waiting for my biopsy results. I’m now 4 days away from planned surgery. But it’s obviously up in the air depending on the result. I’m guessing I will be called although I tend to be emailed letters. It’s 5am now and I’ve been awake since 3. The stress of this is just crazy.
