Edit:  fyi i was rejected for hrt due to my cancer being hormone positive and the fact i sustained a dvt in the accident.  But I wasn't necessarily after hrt.  Being referred for dexascan and bloods taken to ascertain situation before any further action.  Very sympathetic of my situation.

Just wondering if anyone has continued to use or started on HRT after treatment.  Or whether it was a no no from person decision and /or medic recommendation.

Because of multiple fractures in car accident prior to diagnosis and am concerned about osteoporosis.

Because of concerns I have been referred to a menopausal specialist next week.

Thanks all

  • Can I just ask how you get a referral to a menopause specialist? Do you need to ask? I am 47 and not been through the menopause yet, but concerned there has been no discussion about this pre-op. Do you have to wait until post op?

  • I spoke to my cns because I was concerned about osteoporosis given my fractures and the radiotherapy to my pelvis.  I don't know how much my accident had to do with my referral but 8 weeks prior to my diagnosis I was the victim of a serious car accident which broke my left femur and 10 bones in my back as well as other fractures.

I'm not so concerned about the other menopause symptoms.

  • I found out that there was guidance issued by the British Menopause Society and the British Gynaecological Cancer Society on the management of menopause symptoms which came out last August. It’s quite accessible to read, but in essence it isn’t a flat ‘no’ for HRT if it is an endometrioid cancer. It depends on your grade, stage and age.  However, it also says that there hasn’t been enough research to be categoric in all situations.
