Just had my hysteroscopy done today not the most pleasant experience but tolerable with gas and air. Nurses were great really caring and explained everything that was happening and constantly checking I was ok.
The biopsy has now been sent so have to try and be patient and not overthink.
I had a student hysteroscopist she was great, explained everything beforehand and answered my questions, she was very transparent and honest about what may or may not be my diagnosis.
They fitted the mirena coil whilst I was there as added precaution while waiting for the biopsy results.
Well done. Hope you do not have to wait too long for results. Mine came back within the week and I was phoned with the result.
Hi, well done for getting through that and gas & air always helps! Try not to overthink things whilst you are waiting for the results. Take each day as it comes and focus on other stuff. I have the Mirena coil and am fine with it. It reduces the lining of the womb and apart from a few minor side effects, I have done well with it so far.
You should have some form of pain relief. If not, then GA but that seems a bit over the top, when so many can have gas & air. I would change hospital....it might cause a small delay but ongoing you would be treated much better. You deserve to be cared for and to feel safe and not scared.
They took a biopsy today and fitted the coil as they said it won't do any harm until results are back. I'm just concerned now about having a masive bleed once the lining start to thin.
I also have pbc (liver disease) and upon reading its not great to have when you have a liver condition. It was all a bit nerve wracking today talking about being high risk etc so I agreed to having it fitted.
As I understand it from my team and GP, whilst the coil makes the excess lining shed (which is a good thing overall), it can stop or slow down bleeding in many women. I never had a massive bleed; it was just on and off and never that heavy. Like a light period really. If I were in your position I would wait until the results come in and then talk to my team. I was terrified for example of blood clots, as I also have lupus - but the hormone from the coil is released quite slowly. It's the equivalent of a few oral tablets a week apparently, so well tolerated by most.
I understand your fears - we all have them but I'm sure your team wouldn't have fitted it if they thought it would harm you and they have your best interests in mind.
Take it one stage at a time - that's all any of us can do.
