Hi guys,

My mum had her operation last Saturday. She’s experiencing really bad rib pain. Did anyone else have this? She said the front and side area. She did have aortic lymph nodes removed. So wondering if it’s that. She’s struggling emotionally. Which is to be expected. She’s usually fit and healthy. I think she’s struggling the most with not being able to do things herself. I’ve told her everything will just take time.

Hello sorry your mom is struggling - it is very hard to not be able t do things we are used to, and the operation is a major one even with the robot. I had mine on 10th sept and still have right side rib pain. I reallly don’t know why but someone else said it might be to do with how the robotic pieces were leaning in (no idea if that’s true!). Mine feels like brushing and tenderness and is definitely more on and off than it was so am hoping it goes. But if you or your mom is worried i would ring the Ward as you are still in the post op period where you have access (assuming in the UK) or your Nurse Specialist
