Energy Levels

How long did others find it took till energy levels returned fully?  I'm doing really well 18 days post op. Walking 10k+ steps doing  pretty much all household chores  walking my dog at least twice and also a few hours work most days   I'm not sleeping as well as I would like but not sure if that's related or just coincidence. I'm finding that most days I still feel the need for a couple of hours rest in the afternoon and sometimes even a nap. This was never me before. Did anyone else find this and did energy return ?  Thanks

  • Jacki, my dear girl - I suggest you reread your post! You’re doing amazingly well - no wonder you’re tired! Your body is still healing inside - working extra hard to regenerate and recover, plus you’re doing all that stuff! And less than 3 weeks post major surgery! No wonder your CNS said you were doing great and needed to be teaching others how to do it! It’s not just the physical and mental recovery from the op, it’s the exhaustion from the mental stress of it all, especially the waiting for results. Yes your strength will return - just try and be patient, and be kind to yourself.

  • Hi Jax2u

It sounds like you are doing extremely well and after having major surgery, only a couple of weeks ago, it is no wonder you need to rest in the afternoons. Even just getting over the anaesthetic and the emotional impact of it all. I think, just give it time and things will start to settle. Just be careful that you are not overdoing it.

  • Wow! Wonder Woman you are!

Fantastic recovery. Please put your feet up in the afternoons to give your body a well deserved rest and have that nap. It is still early days and you are still healing.

I am in awe -  Clap

  • Thanks KT89. I’m not the most patient of people and always think I will just bounce back quickly.  I feel that you guys have given me permission to do the resting each day Blush

  • The resting is part of the healing and recovery. You are doing great. I too felt like I would bounce back quickly but I soon learnt that slow and steady wins the race.

  • The most important thing here is that you’re listening to your body - doing more when you feel like it, and resting when you need to. That’s the perfect recipe for recovery.
