Hi
Before cancer, hysterectomy and chemotherapy, I was a member of a gym, used to go to classes, and swimming, with a bit of walking.
When I found out I was going to have a hysterectomy, I cancelled my gym membership as I knew I would be ‘out of action’ for awhile, and finding out I had to have chemotherapy I thought I wouldn’t be well enough to do much exercise, so I didn’t want to waste money by joining the gym again.
I do walk when I feel up to it, and after a week and a half after chemotherapy I do feel as if I could do more exercise. Has anyone else had this problem and what did they do?
I used to do quite ‘hardcore’ gym classes, like spinning, but because I haven’t done anything for such a long time, there is no way I could do anything like that, I feel so unfit!
Looking for any suggestions.
Thank tou
Ange
Are you able to sign up to the Les Mills online platform and then you could dip in and out of the classes you feel up to whenever you want to? I consider myself really lucky as I only needed the hysterectomy and am back to Body Pump classes and Queenax, Combat still feels a bit much but being back to the gym classes has really helped my mental wellbeing. Hi Ange,
I found walking was the best for me and out doors in the fresh air. Its easy to increase your pace and distance as you feel fitter.
What about something like Pilates? And then as you recover move to something more. I found it a very fine line though between being active and feeling well to doing too much and then it putting back my recovery.

I was fit before - racketball. cycling, gym. Its not so much the Chemo (Im in cycle 2) but the hystorectomy. I pushed it a bit week 3 as I felt fitter than I was and got lots of bleeding. - so I'm not just sticking to walking - as one of the women said - you can then increase and decrease pace. I did cycle to Chemo 2 though! Its just all so frustrating but I find drinking copious amouts of water and green tea and getting outside helps. Just be careful not to push it - increase effort slowly and week by week,
