I’m 4 weeks post op this weekend and just have a few issues that I thought I would ask you ladies if you had the same at this stage as I thought with a robotic da Vinci  op I would feel bit better by now

1 my  tummy flat at night but gets swollen and bigger as day goes on , how long does this go on , maybe I’m  doing too much

2 I am walking about 20 mins each day and notice  some pink discharge  when I get home after this so maybe too far too early but trying to walk further every day

3. constipation quite bad and dreading going as can’t go .  I have lacutose  liquid so maybe I should take a small amount of this to ease it

anyone else recognise the above at this stage please as I think it’s just normal healing

  • Hi Mollysue,

I had the Laxido sachets that you take with water and I needed to continue with those for around 3 months, I tried stopping a couple of times but it was uncomfortable.

Regarding the swelling, I also had that and can't remember how long for, I think that's the danger of the robot assisted surgery, the external scars don't reflect the major surgery that has taken place internally.

By week four, I was walking a fair amount, but the light bleeding continued right up until the 6 weeks mark, I think the co cern is if you feel pain.

  • Thanks yes I want to continue walking and getting further each time ! I’m not in pain just a big belly !  I may get some sachets if it’s continues thanks for your help xxx

  • Hi mollysue

-the tummy swelling is normal and will gradually pass. I found it worse if I over did it.

-I didn't have any bleeding or discharge but I believe some ladies have- mention it to your CNS if it persists or you are concerned

-I only had constipation for a few days and was advised to use stool softeners rather than any other type of laxative. Keep up with the short walks as they can help get things moving. How is your diet now? Are you managing to eat plenty fruit/ veg/fibre etc- that could help
