Week 11 after diagnosed and still waiting op

So finally my op was planned for 28 Dec and was admitted at 7am. I was 2nd to go to theatre. I was told at non to get into town and stocking. And I waited and waited. 4pm the surgeon left theatre to tell me I would not get op as 1st lady was still on table and complete as yet. She promised I would be fitted in this week and I'd be contacted the following day.

So I waited until 2.40pm following day - no call. I phoned in, was told op organised 9th Jan. I said no surgeon promised me it would be this week. I was so upset.

Anyways, my op is now next Tues 9th which will be week 12. I just want it done. It's a full hysterectomy, ovaries and lymph nodes removal, plus cutting part of my bowel as I've endometriosis attached to it.

Generally, which week was anyone else operated on?

Thanks

  • Hi Pixie

This must be so frustrating to be cancelled right at the very last minute and then to be told it still won't be done until the 9th. I know I myself really built myself up to have my op when it was planned and I would probably have gone to pieces in your circumstances.

I totally get that you just want it taken out and I suppose one way of looking at it is that this time next week you are likely to be home and recovering.

I had my surgery 4 weeks after my first bleed and I think I was fortunate in that things went to plan. My delays however were over the post op pathology that took longer than expected to arrive as I was operated on just before Easter.

Try to have an easy few days over the weekend and Tuesday will soon come round. Sometimes things get cancelled/postponed and it can be things that are just out of our hands. It is really tough though and I am sorry it has happened to you.

Good Luck for Tuesday and if there is anything you need, you know where we are

  • Hi Pixie1,

For me it was 9 weeks post diagnosis.

  • Hi Pixie

I can imagine how frustrated and upset you must have been, especially after the surgeon promised.

For me my surgery was about 6 weeks from the start.

For me the delay was with my radiotherapy. I was very keen to get started with this. But due to postponement my start date was moved to Dec 27th, 14 and a half weeks after my surgery. I was concerned and anxious about the delay. But there was a reason for it. I just don't know what it is. My guess is there were people needing radiotgerapy for more serious situations than mine.

I am wishing you all the best for next week and will be thinking of you.

  • Thank you for info. Glad you finally got started your radiotherapy

  • Glad you've got a date

it's it total hysterectomy with BSO ?

  • Lol had to look up BSO but yes that's my op too plus lymph nodes and cut part of my bowel as it has endometriosis attached to it.

  • Mines the same except lymph nodes ok

are you worried about op at all ?
i am terrified of being put out but alot I here say its not  too bad after

  • I was worried at beginning as it is major surgery. But now I'm at the stage I just want it done and over with. When I was waiting to go to theatre that day - I wasn't even nervous. Roll on next tues

  • How did you get on Pixie
