Travel insurance when living with womb cancer

Hello,

Can anyone help with advice on the best companies to use for travel insurance. I rang a company today (stay sure) went through everything about my condition only to be told that they couldn't cover me. It was quite depressing to think that there was yet another barrier to living a normal life. I'm sure there are other companies out there and I realise it will cost me more and would welcome any recommendations from the lovely people in our online community. I currently undergo immunotherapy for my womb cancer every 6 weeks and feel well enough to look at booking a holiday as I am tolerating the treatment well.

Thanks in advance for any advice,

Fiona

    Hi Fiona

I'm not a member of this group but the title of your post caught my eye.

Unfortunately, as you've found, it can be more difficult to find travel insurance when you've had a cancer diagnosis so can I suggest that you join us over in the travel insurance group.

Once you've joined look for the thread called 'recommended travel insurance' as that's where you'll find the majority of recommendations. There are lots of companies that have been recommended so it's a good idea to go through the thread and make a list before you start phoning around.

  • Hi Fiona. The same thing happened to me last month. A company rejected my application for travel insurance. I turned to the Macmillan forum for help and found out about Insurancewith. Their online form was really detailed and I felt they assessed my risk fairly, unlike the company I'd previously contacted. (I had treatment for stage 3 womb cancer all through 2021.) It is a shock to realise that cancer has made you 'uninsurable' with some companies, but I found Insurancewith not only gave me a policy, but at a good price too. All the best x

  • Hi thanks for replying. I have had a look at Insurancewith and they definitely look like a good choice. They seem very reasonable and have good policies. It certainly is a shock to find out how much some policies cost and then also to discover that cancer has made me uninsurable too. All  the best to you too and happy holidays, thanks again x
