Hi just found out I have womb cancer , waiting for a date for surgery, I’m feeling frightened, anxious, and on boarder line of a panic attack, don’t think I can cope anybody feels the same x
Hello Mrs pink
Welcome to the Online Community and the Womb cancer group. I am sorry to hear that you have just had a diagnosis of Womb cancer and I can remember how I felt- panic, shock, angry, upset and really worried about what it was going to mean for me.
There are many lovely ladies on here who have been where you are now and will understand how you are feeling. Feeling like you can't cope is a natural reaction. Have you got someone at home who you can speak to? I found most of the time sharing with others helped.
We do have a Support Line that you are welcome to call if you feel that talking it through with someone would help. The number is below and they are there from 8am-8pm each day.
Being diagnosed with cancer is such a stressful and worrying time and after the initial shock you may feel you have lots of questions. I will pop a link at the end of this to a booklet that helped me when I was fist diagnosed.
I hope that you do not have to wait too long to have your surgery. If you click on my name, my profile will come up- but I had my hysterectomy in April 2022. It was straightforward, I recovered well from it and had very little pain. It was mainly about taking things easy for a while to give myself a chance to heal.

I hope this helps a bit but if there is anything you want to know or need then please do ask.

So sorry to hear of your diagnosis, I have recently joined the group on my diagnosis of endometrial cancer, luckily I was given a date quite quickly, outside I appear fine but it’s the next six months of operation , chemo and maybe radio that makes me anxious too
Hi Mrs pink and welcome to the group. It’s understandable to be frightened and anxious, and also totally okay to be feeling those things. You’re in good company here - we’ve all felt similar emotions and have found a way through and you will too. Feel free to click on my name to read my story. I was diagnosed two years ago this November and had my op in January 2022.
I feel for you Mrs Pink. All the emotions you are experiencing are typical. It's a horrible time. Cancer is something that happens to other people - right?!
Once you get a date for surgery you will feel more in control. I had my surgery almost 2 weeks ago.
I found keeping as busy as possible helped as a good distraction. Sometimes the situation is crushing and all consuming, other times more tolerable.
Good luck and I hope you get your surgery date soon.
Sara
Hi Mrs Pink, Like Sara I had my surgery two weeks ago and am recovering well. It a stressful time, all the waiting.
Did the Dr give you any idea of timeframe? Did they give you a predicted grade/stage?
There's so much going on it can feel really overwhelming. I had to wait two days from the phone call telling me there was something wrong to seeing the dr and getting a diagnosis that I was actually relieved to learn it was "only" stage 1, grade 1 and that I would most likely "only" require a total hysterectomy.
You should have been given a CNS to contact, if you need to ask questions. While they might not have a date for you yet they should be able to give you an idea or times. In the meantime like Sara said, try to keep busy and take it all one day at a time. This will pass.
It will come round quicker than you know. I found it helpful to give myself a little program of extra healthy living for the weeks leading up the surgery. Super healthy protein rich food, some gentle yoga and breathing exercises, and doing pelvic floor kegels before hand. I also did a spring clean and made sure I had everything I needed ready. It helped to feel like I was doing something positive in preparation.
Whatever cancer throws your way, we’re right there with you.
We’re here to provide physical, financial and emotional support.
