uterus issues

Hi everyone, I feel so guilty joining this group knowing (yet) I don't have cancer but needing advice.

I'm a 24 year old (25 in 2 months), my period stopped when I was around 17/18 completely.

I am over-weight, in the sense of 18 stone. I haven't been bigger than this and currently losing weight.

I've been tested for PCOS twice, and been told twice I don't have any signs of having this. I had an ultrasound and was told I had 2 wombs/split down the middle but had nothing to do with my period/hormones.

I have a female partner which means, when she has her period, I sync with the pain and not the blood.

I have been told after a gynaecologist appointments this year (Jan 23) that my uterus COULD be blocked. I was also told that i'm at high risk of having Endometrial Cancer.

I have been prescribed Provera to force period, I'm on nearly 2 weeks and still no sign of blood. It should take 3-7 days to start.

I have always had abnormal random blood clots, or just literally wipe a streak of blood from my vagina for years, maybe like once every few months. The other day, I had a huge blood clot 2 days after the provera medication and nothing since. I get random stings and aches under my belly, from looking on a diagram, it seems so be the fallopian tube area, ureter?  (I'm not educated on the anatomy)

Constantly nauseous, abnormal stool, bad with heat, mood swings and possible could be in early menopause.

I have blood tests booked and my first smear test in a few weeks.

I hope someone could help with advice, if this sounds normal, anyone had anything similar, what do you think?

Thank you

Please be honest

  • Hi emmascarlett,

I'm very sorry that you feel the need to join this group, and please don't feel guilty. You are very young to have to deal with something like this, and I'm presuming the not knowing is a  worry.

I have never heard of anyone having 2 wombs, (although it is probably not that rare,) and experiencing these symptoms, but surely you have been referred to a gynaecologist?

In my opinion, not medically trained either, some of your symptoms do sound similar to menopausal symptoms, which in itself are difficult to cope with, but having these other things alongside too, are bound to be worrying. I think you should be having a face to face appointment with your GP ASAP. and demanding a referral!

I'm not saying that you need URGENT CARE, as having spoken to, or seeing someone recently, this hasn't happened,  but the need for you to know and understand what is happening to your body, is I believe, crucial.

I sincerely hope you get some answers very soon and also hope it isn't serious.

Please come back on here to update us of your situation, meanwhile take care!

    Best wishes, Helen xx

  • Hello Emmascarlett

Welcome to the Online Community. Please do not feel guilty for joining this group and posting in it. You have some symptoms that you are concerned may be a sign of cancer and are very welcome to post here and ask for support.

I can understand why your symptoms are concerning you and while it is always a good idea to rule out cancer, the symptoms you are experiencing can have many different causes. It is good that you have seen a gynaecologist and are having these symptoms looked into.

I think however you need to have a face to face appointment to talk all this through with your GP. My advice would be to write a list of symptoms/questions and go through it one by one, and from the answers I would be asking to be referred for more checks. This is the sort of thing I would be asking my GP...............

    1) Periods stopped when 17/18. Could this be early menopause? If not -what else could cause this to happen.

    2) Overweight but losing weight- is this a factor/cause for concern. Is it causing the issue

    3) RE PCOS- does test need to be repeated. Is it possible to have this without some of the signs

    4) Could the anatomy of your womb be a cause of the "blockage" mentioned by gynaecologist

    5) You are getting the pain/feelings of periods but without the blood- what could be causing this?

    6) In Jan23 you were told that you were high risk for endometrial cancer? Why and is there anything that you could do to reduce the risk and what signs do you need to look out for.

    7) In Jan23 they mentioned a potential blockage- what is going to be done to investigate this further. Would a hysteroscopy test or CT scan etc be indicated?

    8) Could any of the symptoms be related to side effects from Provera. Mention that you had a huge blood clot 2 days after starting it. It helps as well if you can describe it. How big it was, the colour etc. You could also ask if a different type of hormonal treatment is worth trying such as the combined pill.

    9) Mention the aches/stings in your fallopian tube/ureter areas. Should you have urine test to rule out infection. Should you have a scan of this area.

    10) Mention the nausea, abnormal stools, heat intolerance and mood swings. Ask if these are connected to the gynae issues or if they could have a different cause. Maybe consider keeping a note of how often you are experiencing the nausea and if it is related to anything you are eating. Also the stools- is there a pattern, what do they look like etc- all these would help the doctor

    11) Can the blood tests be bought forward as it is causing so much concern and are these routine bloods or looking for anything in particular.

    12) When having the smear test done, would it be useful to have swabs taken to rule out any infections or anything that could be causing the symptoms. Could there be some sort of pelvic infection causing some of the symptoms.

I hope this helps a bit- you can probably come up with your own questions but these are just to give you an idea but in the past I have found writing a list, printing it off and taking it with me was a good way of getting direct answers to what was concerning me. The doctors never minded either. I think in light of all that is going on you need to be seen and have your questions answered, be given some reassurance and told what is going to happen next. You are not wasting anyone's time and your health worries are important.

I hope that you can get some answers soon, In the meantime you are welcome to give the Support Line a call and speak with one of the nurses on there. The number is below.

I had womb cancer last year and none of the symptoms you are having are what I experienced. My only symptom was a sudden heavy bleed.

    Good Luck

    Jane

  • Hi emmascarlett,

I read your post and had to reply. Not sure it will help, but might make you worry less!!

First of all, many years ago (about 50) I was friends with a lady who had a double womb. I had never heard of that. She had a few miscarriages because of it, but eventually gave birth to a little girl.

Secondly, my own daughter stopped periods at age 17. I insisted she had this investigated and they discovered that she had a small benign growth on the base of her pituitary gland. Tablets for life sorted that out. Strange thing is, after having a child her periods returned and doesn't need tablets any more. I sometimes think our bodies have a way of sorting themselves out and its not always bad news.

Wishing you all the best. xx
